Simon is going to use every trick in the book to get rid of G4. They are competition to his similar band Il Divo. Moogester - you are forgetting one thing. G4 will be getting primetime exposure on a Saturday night every week. They will also have the public voting for them and immediate access to a growing fanbase. Il Divo are being launched on Simons hype alone. They wont be singing the sort of songs that G4 will be required to sing to do well in this series. The GBP will get to know G4s personalities over the next few weeks which is something that cant be said of Il Divo so far. We will soon see who the public take to their hearts.

Arty have a look at the link:

http://www.newmusicfriday.com/?nmf=20040924.

I've seen the group two or three times being interviewed and singing on TV already, they are very, very good. Don't forget G4, even if they win X factor, are always going to have the stigma of being reality talent show winners. I must admit I found it a little odd in the first stages of auditions that they had entered X factor at all.

Dont get me wrong Moogester. I like Il Divo but G4 have the opportunity to create a very strong fanbase in this series and also get their records bought. Will Young hasnt done too badly after winning one of these shows and G4 will be tapping into a market that may be fed up with the usual cookie-cutter singers of this type of programme. They may end up disapointing but so far I like what I see and more importantly love what I hear. I just want to see how they do in front of a studio audience with a music backing.

Yes, I'm looking forward to that too. Neither group is really my cup of tea, but Il Divo moved me to tears when I heard them on another programme - but I could have just been teary that day anyway (just call me Verity )

I've yet to see a performance by G4 that, for me, justifies the "Wow!" reactions from the judges or their popularity here. I just don't get it.

I realise they can sing, but I find their vocal style excruciating. Their rendition of C.R.E.E.P. was simply hideous (although I'd love to know if they sang the line with the 'F' word). Radiohead should take legal action to make sure they N.E.V.E.R. release that on record.

This is just me, of course. I agree that they represent an alternative to the usual boyband fodder and I suspect that's why Louis chose his final three; the other two acts in his last five were of a type that's ten a penny these days.

Disagree spacebard. I wasnt as impressed with the rendition on the ITV1 show but saw far more of it on the ITV2 show and I was blown away. Next week we will be able to see them in action without the interfence of lousy editing which I am certain has a lot to do with Cowells connections with the show.

It was frightening. What was Louis thinking about? To ruin a beautiful song like that. This is exactly why I don't like them and why I think they'll make a pig's ear of many songs.

..........were you really watching the same programme as the rest of us???.........it was not meant to sound exactly like the original - they did it in their own unique style. I was watching the programme with a groups of l2 friends (all 18-25 age group) and they were blown away by G4`s rendition - they thought they were awesome.

Il Divo's album is released on 1st November so G4 are going to be pipped at the post. I really don't think there is room for two opera style boy bands in the charts, especially as Il Divo have four heartthrobs and G4 only one. (BTW Il Divo is Simon's band)”

....please stop comparing G4 with II Divo. The latter are all professional opera singers in their own countries with many years of experience behind them.......G4 are music students and part-time buskers. They have the god-given raw talent but lack performance experience and their voices will probably need further coaching........ but they are all British unlike II Divo who are all European. G4 are unique to this country.......the raw talent is there and just imagine what they will sound like in, say, 2 years time. Then, we can start the comparisons!!! Mark my words, G4 are going to be huge

Oh yes...it was the same programme! It's just, well...when we were watching it...both my husband and myself cringed. We like Radiohead...and we love their music. To us, it was murdered. Poor Radiohead...

I love Radiohead too. I also loved G4s rendition of the song. Its something that we are never going to agree on ZipGypsy. How boring it would be if we all had the same taste in music. A lot less lively on these boards in the next few weeks for a start if that was the case.

Drat...I just won't sleep tonight thinking that we just aren't going to agree.

I do agree that its good to disagree even though I disagree with the methods in which some disagree. Are we in agreement on that or is it something that we will have to agree to disagree on?

It is obvious comparisons are going to be made and as I have said already G4 are being sold on their uniqueness, I am pointing out they are not unique. As Simon Cowell is a part of Il Divo there is that connection the the x factor as well, especially as G4 are on a rival judges team.

Very clever, Arty. I like that and we are just going to have to agree here. Now the question is...will you sleep tonight?

I will sleep very well tonight dreaming of G4 in the final with the wonderful Jonathan getting wonderfully emotional.

I've just watched the XFactor ITV2 show.

Now,
2toGo get the nice pleasing ballad, "from this moment"
One of the boybands gets the happy pleasing beach boys song
Voices with Soul get the nice pleasing Ballad "I will always love you"
The other boyband gets another ballad, "to love somebody"

Then, G4! Hang on, where's the pleasing ballad, no, they get an indie rock Radiohead song!!!!!!

I'd like to see how any of those other groups would have handled that song! G4 had the most challenging song to sing - without a doubt, and I thought they handled it excellently. Imagine those guys with a full orchestra behind them.

Classical rock is quite big too! (although probably not for the little teenage girls)

Hands off everyone, Jonathan is mine! LOL! I just love him to bits! But if they win, I think that who ever manages them will make them into another boy band! And I don't want that!

Does anyone else agree?

Actually quite impressed with Louis in this show for chucking out all the traditional boy bands, and picking 3 rather more interesting acts. Dunno if any of them will win, but I think it'll make good viewing. Quite like G4.

ok, does anyone know what that "bailey's ad" music is that they played on the XFactor2 show when G4 told the families they were in! It's being used quite a lot lately and I'd love to get hold of a copy somehow

G4 are not my cup of tea but I fear Simon will give them hell.
I heard Louis say something similar during last nights show but I am not sure who he was referring to.
