Do you think that producers of a soap should get celebrities to appear in an episode of their soap production?

I think it is good but they should possibly introduce a celebrity once a year rather than frequently like Corrie did with Peter Kay and Honor Blackman.

Anyway it is still nice to see some other acting skills brought into TV rather than film.

It some sort of way It does help their boost for acting, but usually they are pretty crap. I'll say half and half.

I think now and again but really I prefer my soaps with unknowns, even if they are shit sometimes. Having said that Barbara Windsor was famous before she joined EastEnders. I don't mind celebs who are famous or who were famous a few years back, but I wouldn't like to see popular modern day celebs starting to appear in the soaps. Peter Kay was good for his guest appearance though but I'm glad it was only for a few episodes.

I'm sticking to my idea that Mr Tarantino should guest direct an episode of Coronation Street. It'd have to be a late night special of course!

I think it depends on who the celebrity is and what their storyline will be. Some celebrities work well in soaps, others just look out of place.

Exactly.. If a soap brings in a failed or ex-singer then it's pretty clear they just want to try and boost ratings with a familiar face. ALthough I have to admit I think Keith Duffy was a good move, though I'm sure others think that's arguable. If a celebrity is brought in to boost ratings, but comes with genuine talent, then I think nobody can complain really. Again, like you said.. a lot depends on the plot too.

I would also love to see Ray Winstone in EE, he could play any role hardman, comic character, believable love interest
