Why is there not a thread on here for the legendary Rolling Stones? Share your thoughts about "The Greatest Rock'n'Roll band in the world" here!

I will kick off by saying, that I have just got the new release of "Some Girls". Fantastic re-issue, with 12 additional tracks, all of which would not be out of place on any Stones album of the last
30 years. Hope they do some more of these deluxe editions for their 50th year.

I got the Some Girls re-release too. It's very good. Really enjoy that record.

I hope they do get their shit together for next year. It'd be worth it, though I've heard Charlie isn't that enthusiastic.

You should check out Aftermath, Beggars Banquet, Some Girls, Tattoo You and A Bigger Bang. All classics.

Loving the Some Girls re-issue at the moment!

I have never seen them live, always sold out, too expensive etc!
Would love it if they did some small scale gigs! Why does it always have to be big arenas, stadiums etc? Have also just got a copy of Love You Live recorded in the 1970's. Highly recomended if you are enjoying the Some Girls re-issue

I'm usually not here for re-issues, but when it's good it's worth it - like Bowie's ''Station to Station'' - and the Some Girls one has turned out great.

I managed to see them on The Bigger Bang and alright, they're not what they were, but they can still own a stadium. I would possibly like to see them in a smaller setting, but the tickets would be like gold dust. I'd probably never see them again that way.

Check out this months Mojo magazine. Big article about the Stones in the 70's, and a cool cd of cover versions of the Sticky Fingers album. Can't say have heard of any of the artists, but it is really worth a listen!

I'm a big Rolling Stones fan but unfortunately I haven't seen them live. I need to change this. If I was pushed to pick a favourite album, it'd probably be Sticky Fingers.

Thanks stuartjk. I must check Mojo out.

Chicago Baron, I completely misread your post and thought you said you got the 'Spice Girls' re-issue which led to a bit of confusion

Finally, a thread appreciating a proper band. No one will ever see longevity like the Stones and the fact that they can still tour is a testament to how great they really are.

I love the Blues and I love the stones this summer Ronnie Wood is going to get a band of top musicians together to play the music from the Chicago Blues Label Chess in London

Anyone else out there love Blues...

Why on earth doesn't this thread have more views/posts?

They're set to play 2 London gigs in November. Also were they not rumoured to be headlining next year's Glastonbury?

Some of my favourite Rolling Stones songs include Paint It Black, She Saw Me Coming, I Can't Get No Satisfaction and Sympathy For The Devil amongst others

i was in my local HMV and among all The Jam, The Who, Beatles and Oasis albums and memorabilia nothing about our most durable and exciting rock band. All I found was a few overpriced Aftermath and Between the Buttons CDs lurking next to Rhianna. The Rolling Stones are legends and when my mother said she hated them, the next day I was listening to them.

Speaking of Chess Records, have any of you seen the film Cadillac Records? I'm watching it at the moment. If you're a fan of Etta James, Chuck Berry or Muddy Waters it's worth watching. Ultimately it's about Leonard Chess but all of these artists feature (played by actors of course)

The Rolling Stones also make a brief appearance (actors though, not the actual band)

They've survived every other British band and trends like have come and gone, but the Stones keep going. Maybe because the band have done what they want and not followed trends( apart from a none too succedssful dabble with psychedelia) is what has made them last so long.

I was looking at the newer Greatest Hits package today in Bluewater. I was going to buy it but I wasn't sure if it was the best one to be getting.

What is the best GH collection to get?

The 3 disc singles collection "The London Years" is awesome, and "Jump Back" covers the 70's to the 90's quite well, but for a good overview you cant go much wrong with "40 licks". Will probably not bother with the new one as have all the tracks (apart from the 2 new songs) multiple times!

Doom and Gloom just gets catchier the more and more I play it.

Was listening to an interview with Keith on Radio 6 the other day. Predictably brilliant as ever.
