iPhone 4 help
My mum recently got an iPhone 4, and she's having problems calling landline numbers through her contacts.
When she opens up a contact and clicks the number, it opens up a new message screen, rather than call the number- whats going on? Can anyone help ?

Sorry this may sound dumb but does she have the area code as part of the number even for local calls?

I've just had a look at my iPhone 4 in the Contacts app, and when I choose a name; it opens up their number, any info such as personal alert tones assigned to that contact etc and at the bottom it says 'Send Message' and 'Share Contact.'
Does your Mum get any of this on her iPhone? |

She could post a screenshot.
Hold the home and off buttons together for a second and it'll take a screenshot. You can then choose to email that to yourself so you can upload it to a hoster like imageshack or imgur (after you remove the persons phone number and any other personal info.) Then people can see if anything looks 'wrong'. |

Assuming you have just put the whole number in (EG for me - 01211231234) it shouldnt matter if its saved as a mobile number or an iphone number.
DO NOT save it under the "Home" field though - if you look at a contact as you're adding it, next to Mobile and iPhone it says "Phone" and next to Home it says "Email", so it thinks its an email address regardless of what you put in there. So basically, just put all phone numbers down as "Mobile". Worst case, just save them as two seperate numbers - for example "Mom" and "Mom Home". |

I know what you mean - when you create a new contact, the top three options are first, last, and company.
Then theres Mobile - And you can change this to mobile, iphone, home, work, main etc. These are ALL phone number options. "mobile" on the right is matched with "Phone" in a light grey. The next option down says "Home" on the left and "Email" on the right. You can enter a number in here, but you cant change it from the "email" option. I just think this is the most likely cause of the problem. |

Thanks for the help everybody
![]() Got the problem sorted - as MarkieBod83 said above, the number had been put in the home box, rather than into mobile, so I changed that around for her, and she is now able to call landline numbers ![]() Cheers for your help again guys |
