Also can't bear to unmuzzle the bite of reality by putting the geographic distance between himself and Ali, perhaps?

But there's never one single reason for such major decisions.

Wasn't Brian in a relationship with his SCD partner? (Can't even remember who she was). Maybe another reason for staying over here.

I found this article interesting as I've wondered what happens to the professional dancers once they leave Strictly:

Isn't he an American? So why is he able to stay and work in the UK? Surely there is no shortage of British " actors" able to do Panto?

He will have to have the appropriate papers. There ARE different rules for Performers.

You get lots of Americans coming over for Panto. Pamela Anderson, Henry Winkler, loads of Aussie soap stars. The door is easy to open.

I found that Daily Mail article very interesting too. I guess for a lot of the pro dancers who were employed by Strictly never thought the "dream job" would end. I was VERY surprised when I read that so many of the dancers were let go. Ian was very popular yet he ended up last year as just a professional dancer in the group!!! Matthew won Strictly but he was got rid of too! I will never understand why Karen is not a Judge as she won Strictly and is a professional dancer. Aleshia just repeats what the other judges say and usually gives the same score as Bruno!! Yet she is back again as a Judge!!! Amazing.

No Brian and Ali broke up when the work dried up. They were on Lorraine promoting their West End Show, looking lovingly at each other and then the show finished and so did they! Sad, I thought they were a lovely couple but this happens to often on Strictly I no longer believe any of the so-called "romances" that start on the SCD programme! I read that Brian had returned to the USA so that story was obviously untrue. Why he would want to stay in England is beyond me as I am sure being an American is not a great advantage.

Brian was judging at Strictly Northampton last night at the Derngate Theatre, where I hear a good night was had by all and most importantly £30,000 was raised for Macmillan Cancer.

Sounds like he's doing ok for himself. At least he's earning money and does'nt have to go back home.

Still can't understand why he was dropped after appearing in just 1 series?

He's quite a good dancer, even better than some of the old pros esp like Anton who is very limited in what he can dance not to mention his dreadful choreo.

He actually did two series, and probably stays in the UK because he is quite well known here now and has a large following, if he can earn a living here why go back to the US and have to start over, good luck to him is what I say and who knows perhaps he loves weather in the UK (:

He appeared in two series. The first with Heather Small and the second with Ali Bastian.

Maybe it had something to do with the failure of Dancing on Wheels?
