Hi All

I was hoping you could advise me. I just got a samsung galaxy w and was wondering if it will automatically switch off the 3g and mobile internet when it found a wifi connection to which it could connect.
I had the lg optimus and was downloading apps with it, when the phone bill arrived for more data than I had paid for. I always assumed that because I had it connected to the wifi at home, where I was doing most of my downloading, it wasn't connecting to the mobile internet, alas, it turned out that I had to manually switch off the 3g for my phone to use the wifi instead.
There are some buttons on the Galaxy W that allows me to switch on and off the wifi and when I do so, when wifi is on the 3g disappears from the top of the screen, and when I switch wifi off 3g reappears. Does this mean that when connected to the wifi at home it won't access the mobile internet?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I've searched online for the Samsung Galaxy W manual to see if anything came up.

I couldn't find anything; but I would assume if you are at home, and connected to WiFi then you would only be using your DSL connection; and not your 3G Internet connection.

So long as you are connected to your WiFi at home; you shouldn't use any mobile data from your provider's allowance.

I hope this helps!

Hi 12december1984, thanks for your answer. This is what I assumed with my previous phone but it wasn't the case after all, as I notices in my phone bills which is why I'm a bit more weary this time around with that assumption.
