Throwing in the word baby was probably an attempt to clear it because a strong 'b' sound can help clear the problem. He finally cleared it on the second of the long 'to' notes and his voice picked up from there.

Makes no sense to me but she's the expert”

Really? That doesn't make sense to you? Was it the highly technical terms like 'frog in the throat moment' that threw you? What an expert...

No need to be sarcastic, I get the frog in the throat bit, I don't get how singing too low can contribute to causing one or why strong B sounds can help clear your throat, but whatever.

He was amazing. I'm worried though, because there were a lot of good performances tonight. Hope he gets enough votes to make it through.

I really like Marcus, but that wasn't the song for him. It exposed quite a few weaknesses - strength in the lower register as has already been said, breath control problems - the line was broken far too often, and general problems controling his voice and holdig a note. I thought it was a pretty clunky performance without a satisfying build, which was a shame.

I wondered why Gary was giving him upbeat numbers with a large production and dance routine every week, and now I know - it is his forte! He will need to do a lot more work to pull off a ballad successfully. Although 'Lately' is a difficult song to pull off, admittedly.

Marcus was brilliant. Gave me goosebumps.

Performance of the series so far for me! And, in my eyes, te winner.

I was dubious at the start but when he got into his stride he made me proud indeed. He has the voice and his part in the charity single also showed his versatility. Simply beautiful.

If anyone on here thinks that the general public are thinking about tone, register, pitch, key and anything more technical than being in tune, you are kidding yourself!

People vote mostly on 2 things - likeability and song choice. If they don't like the person, they won't vote regardless of how good a singer they are (see Misha and Kitty).

If they don't like the song or what the person does with the song, they won't vote (see Janet most weeks!)

I personally like Little Mix as people and thought 'Beautiful' is a great song. Couldn't care less if the harmonies were not spot on or whatever, it sounded fine to me.

I don't like that Stevie Wonder song, it bores me and I wouldn't vote for him for that reason alone. But I love 'China in Your Hand' and thought Amelia did it justice - I would vote for her.

Of course, I didn't actually vote for anyone as I refuse to line Cowell's pockets but you see what I'm trying to say

I agree with everything you said except that 'Lately' is a boring song. I love it and think its a beautiful song. Judging by the fact that it got the highest up the itunes charts this week compared with all the other songs performed, I think a lot of people love it and don't think its boring.

Yes, it's clearly popular but that type of song does nothing for me. Give me 'Superstition' any day

Didn't hate him, but didn't rate him.

I normally think he's ok and I certainly don't hate him but I thought he was the only act on Saturday who gave bad performances in both rounds. I thought he deserved to be in the bottom two with Janet though I can't say I'm surprised that he wasn't. He's probably been (close to) topping the votes for the past few weeks.
