She was overall the best tonight, but did have alot of help by having the best song choices and the pimp slot.

Although it sucks for Amelia that a thread about her immediately turns into one about Janet straight away.
I guess we know why Amelia's been in the bottom two and Janet hasn't.

But that is how the song should be delivered, listen to the original.

You are quite right. Many singers fail in the lower registers whilst they can hit the top notes.

Amelia was better than Janet tonight though.

Surely the song choices are down to the artists themselves, so Amelia can't be blamed for picking songs that suite her voice. Blame the others for getting it wrong.

Amelia seriously toasted all tonight, with Little Mix a distant second!

True. I'm not saying Amelia is a bad singer, just inexperienced and young, she will learn (if she's open to it) to explore her voice and play with it, if she wants to be a singer she will approach the voice as a musical instrument. She certainly has the potential.

Sorry didn't like the Kelly Clarkson one as much but thought China in Your Hands was fabulous, one of the best of the series along with her Show must Go on - and she is my favorite.

However, I do slightly agree with Gary (shockingly!) that the songs are pitched ever so slightly too high. She just doesn't quite hit the very top note or two as comfortably as she could and it's a shame because apart from that odd note she is really amazing.

I know other people love her but I personally find her very shouty and not in a good way.

Why do people feel the need to insult another act to compliment their favourite? It seems unnecessary.

I thought Amelia was very good tonight, her first song especially. Easily one of the best of the night.

The only thing Amelia is useful for is hitting flat notes. She didn't disappoint on that front again tonight. I reckon she has missed the most notes of all of the contenders throughout this competition, having done several less performances!

Better than Janet by several country miles. I always find Janet such a sulky performer and it's always the same, whatever song she sings it sounds the same. Janet couldn't hit a high note if one jumped out at her.”

'They knew they could rely on Amelia to do the big 'finale' song... But you're right about 'China In Your Hand', it was brilliant.

I would say Amelia and Misha were certainly the best of the night, followed by Little Mix.

She was the best of the night, but we must keep voting to make sure she is not in the bottom.

First song was excellent, solid vocal, and she was also very good in her presentation - her poise kneeling there among the dry ice at the start. The song suited her well because it does not go above her obvious ceiling in range, as a few others have done. The only thing I'd say as a downer was I think her outstretched arm/hand gestures to the camera while she's singing are a bit stage school 1970.

The second song showed up the limitations of her range, with her sounding a little rough in places. I guess it was intended to suggest she could be the X Factor's winner, like Kelly was Idol's, but as a direct comparison she was vocally only 75% what Kelly was and is.

I agreed with Gary's comment that generally speaking she's being given songs which are just slightly too big for her, in terms of her range. Remember this is a girl who could not even nail "but the kid is not my son", the highest part of Billie Jean.
