Cannot wait to hear more from her....i am lukewarm to Video games....i loved it, i hated it, i loved it again.
I think its a very "mood" song personally....either way she intrigues me! Love that Baroque Pop is making a comeback! |

Born to die??What about good ol' optimism?
Worse title I've heard in a while, too try-hard to be sophisticated and raw...Anyway, I think she might be promising but I need to hear more music from her.I'm on the fence about Video Games, like Josh Pinder.I think it's lost somewhere between the level of a masterpiece and the element of pure boredom...

I am not that keen on Video games but she's different and I like that.
I am eager to see where her sound goes. I heard her Original Debut album which was scrapped and it was rather different from anything else I have heard in Pop in quite a few years, |

It's also the title of her next single. Which sounds utterly amazing (and filthy!) from the live renditions I've heard. Apparently the video has a live tiger in it - her video budget has clearly increased exponentially!
PS Even from this unashamed Adele stan, IMO Video Games is THE song of 2011 (and probably a few years before that). An instant classic. I like the way she's getting herself well known in Europe before trying her homeland out as well (she's becoming huge in Germany). IMO undoubtedly next year's big breakout artist. And i don't just mean music, she's clearly destined to be a fashion icon as well (it won't be long before hip young ladies will be wearing a 'Lana Del Rey' )PPS There are some absolute superb songs on her 'scrapped' album, which is very encouraging IMO. Here's the track listing with links to the ones actually still on youtube (haven't checked if they are still valid links, apologies if not) http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...2&postcount=70 PPPS Had't read the article before posting this so apologies if it looks like I've just copied and pasted. I didn't ![]() Born To Die Live (rough and ready recording and not perfect vocally but My God this sounds effing epic). Warning: naughty language! Oh, and on a pathetically shallow note: sexiest legs in show business? ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Juozfp5edjw |

Very much looking forward to this! She showcased some amazing songs on her tour, so it looks like the album is set to be brilliant.

I think i am obsessed with Lana Del Ray!
Stunning lady...absolutely of the Old Skool....Very kinda like her influences looking on her Facebook now. She is so gorgeous! Vocally so very raw...i hear the Nancy Sinatra examples people have referred to her. But its soemthing else about it too. Love ehr live performance of Born To Die...also just heard Blue Jeans for the first time. Fantastic....it paints a broader picture of how i feel about her. What a talent.....cannot wait to hear this album of hers....its out next year isnt it....let the wait begin and hunt for new artists continue!!!

The album release date has apparently been brought forward to 23/1/12. And, JP, I know exactly where you are coming from with your obsession. I have it too, lol. I find her mesmerising and it's slightly unsettling if I'm being honest. Check out her old stuff on youtube, some absolute hidden gems - Yayo, Kill Kill, Oh Say You Can See, Diet Mountain Dew, You Can Be The Boss etc.
PS Another new song that sounds like another big hit to me - Radio. Warning: a bit of naughty language. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5E3l...45C9AC28EAD269 |

I mean we have Madonna, Springsteen, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac, No Doubt all coming back in different elvels of hysteria and EPICness....new artists like Lana Del Rey i feel will have MASSIVE impact! Baroque Pop is making a comeback definitely. ![]() And will check it out...more Lana the better! |

To be fair, Born To Die probably sums up the feelings of the inhabitants of the World at the moment, lol. At least those who watch the news regularly. I kinda like its hopelessness TBH.
PS I think this song will be on the album (she's certainly been singing it on the tour). You Can Be The Boss http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE3qtEZdUNU Not sure whether this one will be on the album but I %^$£*(& love it!! Elvis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvXTS...eature=related |

I love that Andy Warhol/Bad Taste about her....she has such a kinda early Tori Amos vibe mixed with 1960s Pop kinda feel. It is absurd which is what makes me feel like she will really be fantastic when brought out into the maisntream. As with Janet...she was marmite material but i found it endearing in her....she is quite Baroque Pop too....again not too dissimilar to Tori Amos and Pj Harvey in evoked style. The only difference is that Janet Devlin was more "where are the razors and noose" whereas Lana i feel is more kinda euphoric and i feel like a devil has been exercised lol.

![]() Either way...thats what i love...Baroque Pop iscoming back!!!! Time for Pop to have an injection of excitement.....Lady gaga and RIhanna and Katy Perry have comemrcial pop/exploitation down to the T....its time we brought independance to Pop right now too. A sense of unusual quirkiness but REAL. |
