Anyone think she'll be nominated in the BBC Sound of the year (or even win it!?!??!?!?)

She reminds me a bit of Natalia Kills, with her whole concept and the way she carries herself. It's not a bad comparison to have by any means.
I wouldn't be as confident that she'll be huge next year, in fact I doubt it quite strongly. She's the type of artist who will consistently release music and hign concept videos but her success will be limited for whatever reason (a cult-following I imagine). Again, like Natalia Kills, I remember when Mirrors was first released and there were all kinds of threads declaring that she would rule the charts and music blogs were raving about her and yet she hasn't in any sense of the word. And it won't be because of poor quality, her songs are epicly beautiful but I just can't see her getting the kind of success that people are predicting. But still a stunning artist and I look forward to her album

She reminds me of Marina and the Diamonds, i'm really not sure why.
I think it's because Marina tried/is trying to explore the American theme concept and Lana is sort of the American version of Marina

I've no doubt she would have won it but she couldn't be nominated because she's had a hit single (Video Games got to #9 in the UK on its first week of release). Shame but that 's the rules. |

I've only heard VG, BJ (lol) and BTD but I love them to bits; could you suggest some that I should listen to? thanks

Her album is already at #43 in the Irish iTunes chart without an official tracklist!

Haha. This is why I can't quite understand when people claim she won't be big! The album is also #2 on Amazon's Pre-Order Chart and then only beaten to the top spot by the Military Wives' single, which is obviously sweeping all before it (including outselling Little Mix by many hundreds of 000s). Crazy when you realise it isn't out for 6 weeks! Certainly in the UK, Lana's album, even in January, will open up with a big number.

![]() Interestingly she says on this video (at the end) that she's going to shoot a video for Blue Jeans in Malibu in a couple of months. ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lB5khivbWs |

There's no way Blue Jeans wouldn't be on an LDR album with the overwhelmingly positive response it got as a B-side.
The one I really want to know about is Diet Mtn Dew - it was a leftover track from her scrapped album, but she always performs it live, and has moved it to her encore song. I'd be interested to see if it get's included/I really hope it does. |

I really hope she does an acoustic, stripped back album in the future (maybe it will be a bonus disc on the inevitable re-release of BTD). Yet another stunning live, stripped back performance of Born To Die here:

The rumour turned out to be true. I wonder if she will have the same impact Adele did when she first appeared on the show in 2008/9? My guess is she will. And I'm sure Letterman et al will book her now. Quote:

I seriously cannot wait. The SNL slot has made me even more excited, I love the whole atmosphere when people actually sing on it (unlike some I could mention...*Ke$ha*).

It seems like Lana has already set a new record. Quote:
Meanwhile, Del Rey will become the first act ever to appear on hit US TV show Saturday Night Live before they release their debut album.
