I have to admit, I went to my olds today (they are in their 80s and love the show even though they cant really see or hear it properly! bless) and they refused to let me tell them the result cos they wanted to watch it on tv. I was in a taxi on my way home when it started, although I did catch the end because I like Anita, half the time I dont watch it.
Aww bless. I bet they love it with all the different dances which go back to history, what is theyre favourite dance?

Mum likes anything ballroom. My dads errrrrrrrrm how can I say this, he likes extreme things, say Dame Kiri Te Kanawa singing opera, if you know what I mean. His favourite is the Argentine Tango (although he enjoys a good charleston for a laugh)

Oh once my kids had grown up we rebelled against the expense, and nowadays we buy only a small token gift (preferably from a list so its actually something someone wants) and have a lovely family cosy day. It helps my dads birthday is actually christmas eve, we get an extra days celebration for our money It was all working fine till my grandson was born now Ive got to dig deep again lol

Why then did Harry say last night? Did he mean Friday or Saturday.
Because from the point of view of those watching on Sunday night it was last night. Time Lord rules!

I hope today people who didn't already know it wasn't live will now realise as Robbie has had tragic news today and people may think little of him after seeing him break down on the news and then happy and smiley on Strictly. In respect to Robbie and Gary I (and others have said it too) thought the BBC might say it was recorded before the news of Gary Speed's death was announced... but no such luck. Let's just hope people realise that the footage they saw tonight of happy Robbie was filmed before his friend died. For the first time, in a way I was glad it wasn't live for Robbie's sake.

I think most people know by now, Hope so anyway. And of course, not every SCD fan is a fan of footie, so I HOPE that the number of those who might have thought Robbie was fine is actually very very small.

I was actually hoping they wouldn't: what has happened today is so dreadful and is an entirely private matter, not to be mixed up with a frothy dance show.
Also the BBC are never going to admit that it's pre-recorded. It's all Emperor's new clothes.

Thats interesting! Elderly people always have good stories to tell, they are full of charm and history. It sounds like a film, the story between your mum and dad. Its very endearing

Thanks SCDchick, I dont know what theyd make of their "sudden fame" on DigiSpy but it was the norm for them and their generation, the Tea Dancing and the Ballroom glitz, they only just got into the whole "pop" thing. Normal folks in their small backwater town didnt get the glitter out for a Saturday nite out, but the whole glittery ballroom "SCD" thing holds a warm place in their hearts, that I can say.

What I mean by that is, during and just after WW2 there was no pizazz and ballroom glitz, people were drawing their tights on using eyeliner and teabags cos they didnt have them. There was no "ballroom glitz" but the whole Chattanooga Choo Choo thing can reduce em to tears of memories
In a nice way.

Bless you SCDchick, did you really not know?

The only part of the Saturday night show which is sometimes not live is if they have a group dance to open the show. You may notice sometimes they will show this group dance, and only then will "the voice" say "And now live from television centre...". It would just be too much of a rush for the pros to do this and then get ready to come down the stairs two minutes later.

I just think it is daft the way they keep up the pretence. I remember Ola a few weeks ago on ITT saying something about "the result on Saturday" then sharp intake of breath, "oh I mean Sunday". Just stupid, especially as previous posters have said now with the tragedy of Gary Speed and Robbie's reaction.

Well there's bad news and good news.

OF COURSE FATHER CHRISTMAS EXISTS!!!

It's just - well - with the present economic climate and European difficulties his toy factory and elfland has been outsourced to the far east.

Good news is that the Welsh version - Sion Corn - is still alive, well and busy getting ready for the big day.

I understand why they have to pre-record it whilst Len and Bruno do the American version, but I think it should stop when they are not doing DWTS.

It creates more of an atmosphere if it is live. Equally they should put more effort into finding better musical artistes- Cee Lo Green is just boring.

Now that the cat's out of the bag for any who didn't know, would you rather have it shown live on Saturday night, recorded and shown on Sunday, or everyone trooped back into tv centre on Sunday afternoon to get back into costume and make up to stand there for twenty minutes?

Maybe, but it is SCD Observer's first post in this thread, so it could have been about anything.
