Completely agree with you and wonder why the BBC have to keeping conning the British public by making out that the show is being shown live on Sunday.
Also can't they go back to the old system where a couple did a ballroom dance one week & a latin american dance the next week and is it not about time we were actually shown the public vote.

If they slip up it can easily be edited out.

Everyone should troop back into the tv centre on sunday and do the dance off, the second SCD weekend show that was worth watching

So the BBC would have to book the studio, camera lighting and sound crews, production team etc for an additional day, plus rehearsals, plus site services, plus audience, all for 30 mins or so. I wonder how much extra that would cost?

Does that include the same Saturday audience who troop back to Television Centre on Sunday evening, or would there be an opportunity for people to apply for tickets to troop to west London for a half hour show on a Sunday evening?

It just amazes me that anyone would think that the exact same people in the audience would turn up again 24 hours later in the same clothes and make-up and sit in the same seats for just half an hour!

Let alone the participants! It's always been blindingly obvious. And why would the 'phone lines close at 8.45 pm one night only to have to wait 24 hours to give a result? You get a decision over the entire country by the morning using the old-fashioned paper polling method in a General Election! The whole nation.

Well, I've known for the last couple of series that it's all done on the Saturday, but i don't come on DS late on a Saturday so never realised there were spoilers here! Even though i wish they showed it all on the same night, I think I'll carry on waiting for the Sunday show for the result.

I'm very good at waiting to open my Christmas pressies too.

Not to mention some of the contestants being in two places at once, such as the sports contestants.

This thread has to be a huge wind up because no-one could be that silly if they post on here with Saturday night spoilers every week.

As yesterday when Robbie had been seen on the news to be very upset by his friend's death then all normal on the results programme.

I am waiting for one of the tabloids to "exclusively reveal" that the results programme is recorded on Saturday.

Nothing new about a bit of harmless cheating. Before 24 hour broadcasting the late night regional news and weather was often recorded earlier in the evening. BBC South West, in the days of Sue Lawley, used to often apparently do their regional news as an outside broadcast from various seaside resorts during the Summer. But all the links were filmed during the day and edited into the live news programme so it looked as if it was coming from the resort.

Just seen showbiz reporter guy on Lorraine on ITV+1 (forget his name, he's from down under) talk about this and tell everyone it is recorded on Saturday night. Good on him, hope he doesn't get into trouble with Auntie for doing so.

I don't know what all the fuss is about! The BBC don't say the Sunday show is live, all they refer to is 'last night's show' . Since they are showing the results show on a Sunday (regardless of when it is recorded), to the viewers, the live Saturday show is 'last night's show'. How else should they refer to it? It would be confusing to viewers to call it anything else but last night's show. They clearly state when the voting lines close, so the main point is that you only have a short period in which to vote.

I watch the live show, I look for the spoiler on Saturday night, I watch the Sunday results show. Personally I prefer the results show to be shown the next night, rather than have 2 shows on the one night. I don't see the need to state the obvious, that the show was recorded last night, but that is my opinion. I don't think they are trying to trick us into believing the Sunday show is live (or recorded on the Sunday), but what do I know!

To be fair, Claudia will often say things in the Lens lens bit about how she was watching it at home on the sofa and proper <whatevered>

I suppose she could make a dash for the television centre after the main show finished, but it's not terribly likely really, is it!?

Regarding the " last night " comments from the judges Tess and Claudia, I find it slightly patronising to be honest.

Have to laugh that some people think the audience get to go two nights in a row, but must wear the same clothes !

When Kenny Logan was on he was in the dance off and commentating on Scotland v France in the RWC at the same time.

They seem to be very inconsistent in the continuity though. Last for example there were plenty of "on last night's show...."'s but then Tess Daly said that Anita will be on Monday's ITT. Surely that should have been tomorrow's ITT?

They dont even try and disguise it as much now as you always see the pros dressed in the background, proper swizz

The professional dancers who have already been voted out are also present in the background on Saturday night wearing exactly the same clothes that they are then seen doing the show dance in on the Sunday

When Harry said "last night" last night, as it were, Aliona seemed to burst out laughing behind him. I'm wondering if she was remembering the careful coaching beforehand and joking about making a mistake (or perhaps it was a reshoot).

As further proof, if such were needed, online betting sites remove the eliminated dancer from their pages about 10.30 on Saturday night.

Otherwise they would be accepting bets that a certain celebrity will win the contest even though it's an impossibility as they have already left...and that would be illegal.

(Alternatively accepting bets on a remaining celebrity without changing the odds because you know they are now one of six rather than one of seven would be silly)

What irritates me about this is the cost - two outfits for Tess and the others. To me it does seem patronising because it adds to the illusion that it's all done on different days when it just isn't.

The whole problem arose because Bruce was finding it too tiring staying up late on a Saturday to film the live show and then a live results show, so he's been let off the charade and instead we have a ton of padding and nonsense.

When the audience is exactly the same in both shows, it's all a bit pointless. And often you can see the celebs and Tess etc visibly having to think to say "last nights show" etc, because as they are filming it, it's still the same night. That's what is patronising.

Perhaps they should just come clean and say "recorded last night" at the start of the results show and then all the references make sense and there's no need for the expense of two outfits for everyone.

I think that you'll find that the problem (if indeed there is one or if it can be described as such) arose when the late Saturday live results show was not being watched by anywhere near the numbers as watched the main programme, and that some had complained that it was on too late for their younger children (and others who were going out) to watch. Any padding has nothing to do with Bruce not being there (after all, he would be doing precisely what Tess is doing now, and indeed has done so a few years ago).

And now, the Sunday show is as popular, if not more so, as the main programme. Hence, more people watching means more people go away satisfied.


And of course, I recall back in the 60's and 70's programmes such as Christmas Night With The Stars where the presenters pretended that they were sat in their lounge complete with log fire on Christmas Night (when in fact the programme had been recorded weeks if not months earlier).

Such is the make-believe world of television.


As for some of the costume changes, perhaps after a two-hour live programme underneath the studio lights, they might need a change of clothing, and maybe others around them might appreciate it as well

I can see why they have the results show on Sunday. My 10 yr old prefers it as he can see the show, he hates it on DOI when he has to go to bed before the skate off and we often have 'words'

However I hate the pretence that it is held on a Sunday. The 'on last night's show' bit I can just about cope with without too much :yawn: as from the viewer's persepctive it is technically true but when Claudia actually acts like she was at home the night before watching it on TV I can't suspend disbelief anymore as that is a downright lie It's amusing how the presenters and judges changes outfits yet the pros in the set pieces and audience clearly are in the same place in the same outfits. Beeb can't seem to decide how far to take the charade.

The whole Robbie Savage thing though made me wonder if it will really come unstuck one day if an unforeseen tragedy/event/illness took place to one of the major players or significant audience member between filming on Saturday and showing on Sunday
