Week 9 Dance Review in One Sentence
SCD-Observer
27-11-2011
1. Anita and Brendan - Not a bad attempt at all, Brendan makes everyone looks at least decent. Score: 6

2. Holly and Artem - Didn't like the music, so lost interest in the dance quite quickly and actually missed her dancing with Brendan! Score: Maybe 7?

3. Alex and James - Overacting and awkward, good music though. Score: 6.5

4. Robbie and Ola - Rubbish and cringe-inducing, Ola should be shot for that choreography. Score: 4.5

5. Chelsee and Pasha - Amazing technical ability from her, but agreed with Craig she should lean over to Pasha a little more. Score: 8.5

6. Jason and Kristina - Looks too frantic and Jason looks uncomfortable throughout the dance. Score: 7

7. Harry and Aliona - Finally a proper ballroom dance, and what a dynamic performance! Score: 9.5

Anita - I liked her more with Brendan, perhaps it was the music which I love, but still not fantastic obviously.

Holly - Wow I really loved it, so different and quirky, thought it really suited Holly and she looked fantastic in that dress.

Alex - To much faffing around with different hats.

Robbie - Just stop now please you are offending my eyes. (I would be banned for what I really want to say)

Chelsee - She coped really well with a difficult dance but why cant she act a bit of passion.

Jason - Loved the outfits and a great attempt at a 'proper' charleston.

Harry - Finally a dance with no rubbish in it....he is still a dull dog but he is a dancing dull dog.

1. Anita and Brendan - 10 out of 10 for Brendan's arse, 5 out of 10 for another ungainly effort from Anita

2. Holly and Artem - I must be the only person on the planet who loved the song choice and enjoyed the dance - 8

3. Alex and James - graceless as ever I'm afraid, James - saying it was good doesn't make it so 6

4. Robbie and Ola - Awful 4

5. Chelsee and Pasha - really enjoyed it but agree it could have been more intense 9

6. Jason and Kristina - seems to be going backwards and those facial expressions! 7

7. Harry and Aliona - good dance, just don't find him very exciting 9

4. Robbie & Ola - no comment, 3/10

1. Anita & Brendan - Not that bad as I loved her skirt action and anything Brendan did! Solid 6

2. Holly & Artem - The dress, the legs, the start, the FT bits & the ending were all fantastic, but the hat, the music & the faffing in the middle were not. Barely an 8

3. Alex & James - I wanted to love it, but something was just not right and I can't put my finger on it. Steady 7

4. Robbie & Ola - Sorry, but I've typed and deleted so many things and just can't find the words. Bottom of the leaderboard 5

5. Chelsee & Pasha - Loved it as it was full of sharp and intricate movements and thought the sausage had started to sizzle nicely. Definitely 9

6. Jason & Kristina - Now that was a Charleston - halleluiah! Substantial 9

7. Harry & Aliona - Finally Aliona choreographs a dance that ticks all the boxes and shows us Harry can dance - but smile Harry smile! Best of the bunch 9

Blimey even when the Chelsee & Pasha fans admit Harry's was the best dance they still can't score Harry higher - how pathetic.

Not sure if you include me, but my reason for giving them both 9s is Harry's QS wasn't worth a 10. That's all.

1. Anita and Brendan without Anita. 10 for being Brendan, the most sexily charismatic of all the male dancers
2. Ola and Robbie. Not big on dancing that involves taking your trousers off 2/10
3. Alex and James: Oh dear. Tries but it's Milly Molly Mandy meets Mary Poppins 5/10
4. Chelsee and Pasha: Not big on the Essex barmaid top-heavy look. No warmth 6/10
5. Harry and Aliona: See Aliona - all you had to do was choreograph a dance in hold 8/10
6. Jason and Kristina: The harder he tries the worse it gets. Sorry Jason. 7/10
7. Artem and Holly: In the shadow of Kara and it just doesn't take off 7/10

1. Anita & Brendan - A 50s housewife sneaks out to have a good time with the mechanic down the road

2. Holly & Artem - Two pilled up clubbers at 4am in a takeaway queue

3. Alex & James - Rehab for viewers feeling nostalgic for Playschool

4. Robbie & Ola - Rehab for viewers feeling nostalgic for the Test Card

5. Chelsee & Pasha - All the right bits but awkward - like explaining to an elderly relative an Ann Summers window display

6. Jason & Christina - A wardrobe full of Pringle jumpers and chinos, on the back of a milk float, on fire.

7. Harry & Aliona - What Nancy saw in her head during every routing with Anton

I know this is a typo (or is it?) but the thought of Anton and his routing equipment made me laugh, as well as feeling slightly queasy.

AB - don't like to watch her, she's too skinny and wiry 6

HA - grossly underscored poor woman, she's being given challenging choreography; Artem's choice of music this series has been exemplary 10

AJ just not very interesting to watch but will probably do well in mediocre TV 'all-round' entertainment 7

RO In a minority but I do enjoy watching his dances 8

CP I can't deny she's good but I don't particularly enjoy watching her 9

JC Another contestant who seems to have become 'unpopular'; brilliant routine as always 10

HA probably the deserved winners. I could watch that dance over and over; fabulous outfits. I think Aliona might be a bit smitten, the smile on her face seemed quite real 10*

Anita & Brendan - crumbs, so that's how far the song can be slowed down.

Holly & Artem - dress, dress, dress, look at the dress. Oh there was dancing as well, it was OK ... but dress.

Robbie & Ola - Oh Ola. Just ... <shrugs>

Alex & James - that was ... hatty

Chelsee & Pasha - s'ok Chelsee, if you say you like Pasha as a friend then noone will be nudge, nudge, wink, winking about it and making it out to be more than it is. Well, except Tess ... yeah, right ... see your point. Carry on being awkward then.

Jason & Kristina - ooh, another dress ... sparkly ...
Not much Robert Redford about it in the end, though Jason.

Harry & Aliona - where was the crazy? Feel quite let down. I mean, good dance and all that but still ...

1. Anita & Brendan - Better than I expected still not that great especially when most of the issues had been plainly signposted on ITT 6/10

2. Holly & Artem - Didn't like this & don't think she performed at all 6/10

3. Alex & James - It wasn't bad but needs swivel & to be it a little less 'ooo' 6/10

4. Robbie & Ola - Just not good at all and the routine was quite weak 4/10

5. Chelsee & Pasha - The smiling and giggling in the doorway prevented any acting I'm sure she just wanted to laugh, one of the best AT on the technical sides (apart from A frame) nevertheless 9/10

6. Jason & Christina - I liked it but I found his mistake in the middle very obvious and his acting is too musical theatre for my liking 8/10

7. Harry & Aliona - This was a good routine the pigeon toes are an issue, also felt he was all a bit 'must please judges, must please judges' and his face and performance would be more natural than an art of precision 9/10

Anita & Brendan: The solo parts were weak and it was too slow for a Latin dance, not the worst we've seen but rather tepid.

Holly & Artem: Thought she put a bit more gusto into the solo aspects and some kicks, but the dance lacked flow and the song didn't fit.

Alex & James: The props (hats) didn't enhance this routine, only broke the flow of it as too much time was spent faffing around with them.

Robbie & Ola: I only remember that this was a very slow Samba and it's getting harder to tell what dance he is doing.

Chelsee & Pasha: She danced the steps and some challenging choreography, but couldn't act that she had a flame for Pasha, which made it fall a little flat.

Jason & Kristina: Solid effort but OTT facial expressions at times, a bit 'dad dancing' at times as well, but fairly lively nonetheless.

Harry & Aliona: He moved well, but I struggle to connect with his dances when his facial expression is always stern.

Anita: good timing, but not much attack – everything seemed a bit hesitant and unfinished.

Holly: loved the music but the full-on delivery needed a more dynamic routine – it overwhelmed an understated nicely performed dance.

Alex: timing issues and not sure exactly how much proper Charleston content we saw – I was bored.

Robbie: can’t find enough words to cobble together a sentence – oh look, I just did.

Chelsee: daring technical content which she delivered really well, but felt I was watching a girl perform a woman’s dance.

Jason: impressive performance although showing strain towards the end – but at least it actually looked like a Charleston.

Harry: OK it wasn’t perfect but fab music, great routine and think I even saw a little bit of joy – is Aliona timing the Strictly Marathon to a ‘t’?

Haven't given marks because I think Saturday's leaderboard was spot on.
