Early when i posted that Janet could be in trouble cause her fanbase is shrinking, i got shot down by all her fans.

It remains to be seen, she could have been "doing a Cardle" and topping the votes, or quite easily be "doing a Wagner" and only just avoiding the bottom two each week

Given she, like the rest of the contestants, has plenty of fans who don't vote at all, there's no way to say what's happening. Good luck with your misjudged smugness, though.

I've no idea, but you posted that Misha was going when the bottom two were announced... now tell me that!

Maybe it wasn't shrinking, maybe it just stayed the same. At this stage of the competition you've got to pick up the floating voters, which is possibly what Janet failed at.

I'm actually fascinated to see Janet's voting figures over the weeks and whether the rumours she was topping the poll are true.

(If that was genuinely the case, it would be the first time the show has ever nobbled a poll topper and tried to stop them winning).

Is this an actual attempt at debate? I didn't say anything, just that it was impossible to tell with no data and will remain impossible to tell as the non-voters can't be tracked. I don't understand the rest of what you're struggling to elucidate and I won't respond to it.

If you look at twitter followers, whilst Janet still has more than Amelia and Little Mix (but less than Marcus) , both Amelia's and Little Mix followers have been growing at a much faster rate than Janets over the last 2 weeks . So I would guess their fanbases have been increasing a lot over the past 2 weeks while Janets has remained virtually the same

I think she blew it herself. I would say she lead the first few weeks then started to go down hill. She was probably let off by her fans then it kept getting worse. Even tonight in the sing off you could see her struggling to remember the words..

How do we know her fanbase shrunk?

An example is Diana Vickers. Her vote was very consistent (always around the 15% mark) but when it came to the semi final, the 15% wasn't good enough to get her to the final. Her fanbase didn't shrink, it just didn't grow.

Of course, none of us will know if Janet's fanbase grew, stayed consistent or shrunk until the final but I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

They've been trying to knock her fanbase down for weeks so tonight was hardly a surprising result. Always giving her an early slot, a few rubbish song choices, harsh and hypocritical comments... It was bound to work sooner or later - it always does.

I think it probably shrunk but the fact that she went home shouldn't be used as "proof" of that. For all we know, she had roughly the same amount of votes every week, but this week it just wasn't enough to survive.

I personally think that her problem was that she lost a lot of casual voters support. Her core fanbase is unlikely to abandon her, but her poor performances recently may have lost her the support of people who were never massive fans of her, or people who vote for different people every week.

Like you I will be interested as well, and also interested to see if she was bottom tonight, which I happen to think Misha was, but I am more than likely wrong.

It will be very very interesting if Janet was not bottom what the difference between her and 4th place was, as I happen to think we may find it to be tiny..

Janet lost the floating voters would be my assumption this week, she had a poor night and some others people do vote on the performance and not just cos they have become a fan of someone.

Her support was based on her image, sound, voice and chosen performance style. None of which fit with the Live Show setting (especially after being butchered image-wise and in terms of song choices). Presumably if she releases music, those fans will return if they have in fact been lost in the first place.

That's not the reason the producers turned against her though. It's a good few weeks since Barlow (on the producers' instructions) first started teling Janet she was "boring".

It may be Janet's voting totals have not changed - but as other acts have gone out voters have moved to other acts and not Janet.

Voting on this show can be very close. At last year's final 7 stage Rebecca, Cher,1D, Mary and Wagner were all within 4% of each other. Yes - Wagner was only 4% behind Rebecca the week he went.

Lets see the results for the series on 12 December - it may have been very close tonight!

You did not get shot down by 'all of her fans'. You certainly did not get shot down by me. Of course her fanbase was going to shrink. That's what happens when the producers repeatedly sabotage you for weeks and weeks and weeks.

Well, I think that it did shrink this week because for the second time Janet forgot her words but other weeks she has had a big following from Ireland. You only have to see all those people that turned out when she went home to Ireland.

But you are also forgetting that a lot of the others fans upped their votes this week for the semi finals. It always happens at this stage of the competition!

If it turns out she topped the poll several times, I cannot see how they can justify saving a singer like Misha over her....it would be giving two fingers to the voters.
