There's never been a sing-off from top 4 to top 3 before. Will they wait and see who's bottom of the heap before they make that decision again, or dare they court the same sort of damaging controversy which has slumped the show in the ratings this year??

Wasn't there one last year to get Cher into the final? We all thought there'd be no sing-off in the semi as there had never been one before. No mention of a sing-off on the saturday show and then we was told during the results show that there'd be a sing-off. Cue mass hysteria and cries of "FIX!".

Yeah, but there was a 4 person final last year.

Would really surprise me if there's another. Misha's obviously the Chosen One but I'd guess saving her again would do both the show and her immediate commercial prospects more harm than good. The public just aren't buying... if she's rock bottom next week that will be even clearer to all involved.

I read somewhere earlier that Dermot had confirmed there would be no sing-off, but I don't know where. Anyone else know?

There wasn't a sing off at the final 5 stage (two weeks before the final) in 2007, 2008 or 2009. So your argument doesn't really apply.

They introduced a sing off at the final 5 stage last year without telling anyone until the voting closed - people were even informed there wouldn't be one by one of the judges.

I don't care what rules they use - but if there is going to be a sing off they should tell people before voting opens. Not after it ends!

If the person last in the vote is someone they want in the final - there will be a sing off next week!

"They" being the 18 senior producers on the show

It depends on who they have lined up for the finalists to duet with!

It was obvious last year that we were expected to fall in love with Cher and vote her through to the final... so they booked Will.i.am for her...... they didn't think Mary would get there so didn't bother booking a duettist for her... hence the sing off at the semi final stage to suit that scenario!

If Little Mix go bottom two, Louis would save Little Mix and so would Tulisa, he would know at that point voting for Misha would be undeserved vs LM who have never been bottom 2. It'd go to DL and LM would win.

If AL goes bottom two, Kelly would save AL (edit, forgot Misha was her act!! She would save Saint Misha for sure ..), and so would Louis. Tulisa I'm unsure of, I should think at this point she would, Gary again, I'm unsure. I think at this point a DL would save Amelia though, especially after such an amazing week for her this week. Edit - Hmm, I think they might do BT, and sacrafice AL for Misha, which would be shocking, clearly the public en mass dislike Misha.

If Marcus goes bottom two, everyone bar Kelly would save him.

I just can't see even a BT saving Misha now ...

They'll keep the sing off until the final in order to make sure that Misha B stays in, and then they'll declare the public vote void and have the winner voted in by the judges!!!!

If they bother with a bottom 2 and Misha is in it and they save her then it will be four times for her in the bottom 2 and it would mean a foregone conclusion for the 1st part of the final.
