Underestimation of Marcus

I'll start with this- I've liked this guy from the start. Nice, unassuming, non sob story contestant.

I feel that he almost appears to have been forgotten on these boards, mainly because of his consistency. It appears that although he's never had a real disaster other than the first half of his second song last night, he hasn't had that standout performance in the vein of Purple Rain, ET and China in Your Hand.

However, I can definitely understand his appeal. His vocal are polished if nothing special, (let's face it, it's not really a concern of charting artists these days) he can dance competently and really put on a performance in a way I can't see the rest doing. Given the choice of which one of the final four I'd see in concert, it would be him.

I genuinely don't think that if he wins he will do a Leon/Steve/Joe. Steve was a real anomaly- a weak winner of an abnormally weak year. Leon had the same manner, but was a different breed of singer altogether. Joe has his critics but evidently a strong fan base as proven his recent resurgence. And can sing wonderfully, but that's a story for another day. If Marcus wins and SyCo manage to carve out an actual niche for him, I can see him being a sort of Bruno Mars/ Olly Murs cross, cheese cum soul cum dance. It could work, he definitely has the marketability to sell.

Anyway, rant over. Was just interested to hear your thoughts DSers, considering Little Mix to win appears to be a done deal if you believe the majority of threads here.

He's the middle of the road contestant who divides opinion least, and usually wins. He can definitely has more of an angle though than the Leon/Steve/Joes of the world, and I think he could do alright.

I think DS is out-of-step again with public opinion and that Marcus is most likely to win. However Little Mix is the better story and they will go out their way to push that in the final. Little Mix is being sold to a wider audience than 1D. They aren't just being positioned as a product, they have the whole journey/sob story thing on their side as well.

All stops are being pulled out for them.

Not all of DS is out of step with public opinion. Quite a lot of us have said he's our favourite and think he will win
