I have to laugh when people say Alex has no confidence. I don't believe this. She would not be 'presenting' on tv, unless she has confidence. She also insists on screaming on the VT every week, not very endearing. Her dancing has improved a little bit, but not to the extent the judges try to convince us that it has

James got Pamela to the finals last year - he's an excellent teacher - Alex is coming to the limits of what she can produce - and she still has to do the One Show. She'll be gracious when she leaves, but she won't make the finals - when they have to do a new dance, reprise a best-scoring dance and top that off with a show dance; Alex could not handle that. But she's a nice girl and I'm glad she got this far.

She was undermarked, in comparison to some others, last week and on the "Sunday" show the judges agreed they'd undermarked her when Claudia asked them about their scores.

Just a correction: Alesha was the only one who agreed. Now whether you consider her as a qualified judge or not is your choice. But she scored Alex's dance an 8 which was the highest mark Alex got from the judges for that dance. So of course Alesha thinks the judges (Craig and Len) who gave her less than 8 were under-marking!

The undermarking for Alex was from Craig.

No way was there three marks difference between Jason's Charleston (for which Craig gave 9) and Alex's.

A 7 would have been a lot fairer.

We enjoyed the charleston and felt Craig was a little harsh. To say she had taken a big step backward from last week was barmy - the tango was overmarked and overpraised.

I like Alex and she has come on in confidence and ability, but I can't wish for her to be in the final. The final three should be Harry, Chelsee and Jason because they are the best all rounders. I wish Holly could be there with them but can't see more votes coming her way now.

We thought Craig undermarked her with the 6, and it looked like that was who Alesha was referring to. He gave Anita a 7, but her dance was much simpler and she danced it less well than Alex.

Holly is a better dancer than Alex, but I just don't think she has the public support, so Holly could well go this week.

Robbie seems to have a big fanbase, but Alex probably does too from TOS, so I recon it's a toss up between those two for the 4th place.

Why wasn't there 3 marks difference between Alex and Jason's Charlestons?

Because Jason's wasn't that good and Alex's wasn't that bad. Quite simple really. But if you go into viewing them with a somewhat closed mind, it would explain someone thinking there was a difference of 3.

To mark Jason with the same score as Harry's was ri-dic-u-lous dahhhling!

Jason's dance was way better than Alex's IMO but that Alex's was that bad - 6 or 7 were fair.

Harry was given higher marks than Jason - Harry got 10s from everyone but Craig who I think gave Jason an 8 whilst everyone else gave him a 9.

If you looked at the steps that Alex did in the Charleston they were not very well executed, and she lacked the over top approach it needs. She is just not as good as the others so I would not like to see her in the final.

I'd say there are four better dancers but one of those is Holly and Holly's card is firmly marked so Alex could get to the final programme.

I like her better on SCD than I do on The One Show (which I no longer watch) because I find her presenting voice irritating in the extreme. She seems quite nice and she tries hard, does as she's told etc.

But I'm no James fan. I think she could get to the final. But only because Holly seems to be lacking in popularity.

You're wrong I'm afraid - Craig scored Jason a 9 - the same mark he gave Harry. I think that says it all about what he knows. See 4:10 of this:

Jason's dance was better than Alex's IMO also but not 3 marks better. From Craig he should have got an 8 and Alex a 7 based on Craig's other scores. Craig is marking them somewhat on who they are and not just on the dance he's just seen.

Whenever I have seen her interviewed she has been quite honest about her chances and obviously does not expect to win or even get in the final.

No one actually says they expect to win but you can tell those that really think they might.

I think Alex she will out-stay Holly this week. Robbie has a lot of public support and will probably receive extra sympathy votes. Holly certainly has more natural ability than Alex, but for some reason rarely performs to her potential. So. it's Holly to go out this week. in my opinion. The week after next will tell us who has the the most support out of Alex, Robbie..and even possibly Jason.
Jason is the unknown quantity as far as I'm concerned. Does he have massive public support ?..he was supposed to be the biggest "name" coming into the show, but most people I know have been distictly underwhelmed by his performances.

And why is it that Jason wasn't that good and Alex wasn't that bad?

Alex is improving, but still fails to finish her lines. I always get to the end of her dance thinking 'that was Alex from the One Show doing a dance'. Jason and Kristina always sell the routine and, regardless of whether people 'like' him or not, produce a quality performance. That to me is the difference, and on the Charlestons I think there was easily a three point difference in quality and difficulty of dance.

Jason's dance wasn't thrilling or particualrly exciting. It was OK, competently done but not deserving of a 9. Harry got a 9 because Craig deemed he couldn't quite classify it as perfect - he had spotted one flaw. Jason messed up his kicks apparently and it was lacking wow factor. Certainly enough to lose 2 marks. An 8 on Craig's scale, a 9 on everone else's.

I was disappointed with Alex's routine too. But she didn't make any glaring mistakes and 3 out of 4 judges enjoyed it. I think that says a 7 to me on Craig's scale and an 8 on everyone else's.

See I take issue with your use of the word 'always'.

You don't think that the quality of Jason and Alex's dancing varies from week to week? Seems to me that you have a closed mind on these 2 if you think Jason is "always this" and Alex is "always that".

I didn't think either Charleston was all that - certainly not Harry-class - I'll accept Jason's was better but neither of them had wow factor or excitement. An 8 and a 7 for me and this one-point differential was agreed with by 2 judges with the third giving a 2 point differential.

To say "at least" a 3 point differential demonstrates you're out of touch with the experts.

And bear in mind, Jason is and always has been a stage performer. And Alex is a TV show presenter. He's still somewhat better but she was starting from a long way behind him and has done very well to close the gap.

i like how approachable she is and she seems to take strictly as it is week by week ....

I ditto everything you've said - and yes, I've met him as well.

He's not only a lovely guy, he's also genuinely very funny. I don't think he and Alex can win, but I'd certainly like to see them in the final - think they'd do a great showdance!
