He had already given up by that point, in his last week he looked like he didn't wan't to be there. His performances would have continued to be as bad as the 'I Gotta Feeling' performance and he would have been out as soon as he finished in the bottom 2 which would have been a couple of weeks at the most. The fame was causing him to self-destruct in front of us and there is only so far that the producers would be willing to let that go on.
