I like some of his songs but last night was bad and if he was singing 'live' he had a backing track playing. That really annoys me on a show like SCD.

PLUS he brought his own dancers - another no no on SCD!

Love it myself ”

Yes, I like it, but not as much as the original by Gnarls Barkley. The problem was, it was so popular, it became ubiquitous.
I actually prefer this stripped back, slower version..

See, this is so much better than what the blummin' show gave us ... thanks for the link. He has got a voice, hasn't he?
I'm happy now. Ray and Gnarls and much Craziness.

As soon as I saw the dancers and realised there wouldn't be any Strictly pros dancing to the song, I hit fast-forward...

Well, mine was a coffee, but same reaction, yes. A Nay from me.

I listened to all the links provided and, no, not so ubiquitous that it registered with me, ten weeks at the top of the charts or not. Never heard it before. Mind you, never wish to hear it again, either, so I don't feel I've missed out.

Cee Lo Green?

See Lo Green and run like hell! That's my advice.

First time I'd seen him and was terribly disappointed. Awful live, terribly old fashioned in every way.

Thought the same thing!

I usually quite like him, but can't say I particularly liked that song.

Ceel Lo was on Strictly?
Haven't seen him. I was mesmerised by the dancers.
Breppo is in love with all nine of them!

Isn't Cee Lo going to be one of the coaches on The Voice UK? I liked him on The Voice USA. The only one with a sense of humour. But not a great live voice.

Cee-Lo Green is fantastic. His album 'The Lady-Killer' is superb. He looked a bit silly in the shell-suit though, and his voice was a bit iffy, but he's one of the finest singers of this generation.

Wow, thanks for that, he can sing....I didn't like his performance on Strictly at all, but that video is great

Cee Lo is probably on loan from America to help with BBC's The Voice next year. He was the judge in the American version of the show.

I agree and there is nothing wrong with being "old fashioned" as someone else called him. Good music, good lyrics that you can actually hear and a really good voice. Way better than most of the trash I hear in most modern music.

If you don't like it then fine, it's not your cup of tea.

Cee Lo Green - love his voice (not keen on his physical appearance though!)

Exactly!

There's a band with four capable singers, why bring in more?
They never have anything to do with ballroom any more.

Without the BBC wanting to compete with and beat X-Factor on ITV (and hear the BBC brag about beating them in the ratings) this could be a far better show.

He or his dancers didn't really do his track any justice on SCD so I can understand if you'd heard it for the frist time you wouldn't be impressed. This is the studio/video version - I still think it's a good tune - bright & breezy pop soul - perhaps would have been better as a summer release. The dancing in the video is very different to what was seen on SCD it's erm quite raunchy

This may be true, but it was "pants" on the night and I'd rather have heard a band singer sing something ballroom related.

I thought Lance Ellington singing and Anton and Erin dancing was far more enjoyable. They could have got Hayley to sing something "up tempo" and had another pair of pro dancers entertain us, "like in the old days" before they ruined this show.

Everything was bad about it - from the dancers to the lighting to the singing

I agree with many of the comments.

What occurred to me last night was the mismatch between the time the item would have been recorded - late Saturday - and the transmission time.

Lots of people in other threads have complained about some aspects of the show being unsuitable for children and those outfits are included.

Thought for a second Arlene and Hot Gossip had sneaked in!

My OH prefaced his performance with "apparently this guy is amazing". Then we just sat there and looked at each other and went "oh".The pro acts have been a real disappointment this series.

I suppose they could have got Tommy Blaize to sing it - he would have done a better job than Cee Lo did with his own track and the pro dancers to do a Latin meldley to it - would have been much better viewing for SCD fans but doubt it'd pull in the huge audience figures the BBC want - it's all about competing with X-factor these days!

the original Gnarls Barkley song was top of the charts for a reason - it was good!

The LaMontaigne version is like watered down custard - all the original driving rhythm lost, and that awful breathy voice on top of amateur guitar playing - guitar strings not all in tune - how could anyone seriously like that version?

For the results show, we could have had just Danger Mouse (and Jerry the Cat, of course!)
