I still can't decide if it is or isn't bigger than the current set.

Looking at the aerial photo, the width of the street seems to be about the same as the 'real' road that's at the top of the page. Once they've allowed for the pavements, I reckon the street will be wider than it currently is.”

Its been confrimed that the street will be wider...
To make it easier when filming...

So will we actually see these streets in full then? The article wasn't clear on that.

I'm confused, it had always been stated (not least in this thread) that they were NOT taking this opportunity to add more streets/houses.

Thing is there are empty house on Victoria Street and some flats there so wouldn't it have more sense for them to show us the interiors of those buildings. Looking at the new plans there is nothing on them that suggests they are building new houses on Viaduct or Rosamund Street.

Unless they have made last minute adjustments to the plans which I doubt, or maybe that's what they plan to do next once the main set has been completed.

and anyway before they add hordes of new family's they should get rid of the dead wood.

They did say they planned on adding new areas though, and one of those new areas is the street behind Victoria Street, which some people suspect might become Tile Street

What are they doing next to the Set store? There appear to be buildings there but it's not labelled.

Compare post 25 which shows the set store in yellow and next to it there are some unlabelled buildings to the original plans http://coronationstreetupdates.blogs...oronation.html which shows the set store is a lot bigger than the first pic.

After closer inspection of those plans in that thread, they look old, check out the names of the buildings, such as 'Wongs' and 'Webster's builders yard', also it makes note of MoSI's land, not sure though

Hmmm, looking at the picture in post 17 on page 1 of that thread, the houses don't appear to be any bigger than they are currently.

Appearances can be deceptive, besides they can't make them hugely bigger as we'll be able to notice. Isn't it going bigger by about a third?

Yeah, perhaps it's the angle.

The street itself it definitely wider.

I've just been trying to count the bricks on the current set and the new one but can't find a good enough picture of the current set to work it out!

I am so sad.

Help me!

I did think about doing that but decided not to, for all we know the bricks used between the old and new sets could be different sizes.

So, I've found this picture of the current set which is decent enough.

The new one is definitely bigger, but only by one brick length (if that's even a measurement!)

As you say the bricks could be different sizes, though they do look to be a very good match.

I've counted the bricks on the bay windows. The straight bit at the front have a maximum of five brick lengths on the current set, and six on the new one. The angled part has three on the current set and at least 4 or 5 on the new one.

So, the bay windows are going to 'stick out' a lot more than they currently do as that angled part is longer on the new set.

I've had another look and one of the pictures on the first page (pic 1 on post 15) which shows the full length of the street looking down from the corner shop ... it looks massive in comparison to the current set!

Can anyone see what I mean about the bay windows? They stick out much more than they do on the current set.

Thanks for the great link showing progress on site!

I would say the new set is a lot more realistic than the current Granada Studios site... looking from the D&S Alahan's shop through The Rovers Return there seems to be a substantial difference.

Part of me is gutted they are only lighting up the second floor of the 'houses' on Rosamund Street as I was hoping it'd be a 'facade' with the ability for extras/characters to walk from the Ginnel into their homes rather than met a breeze block wall LOL.
