I noticed that too... it was a bit jarring though
I know the houses are predominantly used for storage/scriptwriting/green room like they were over at Quay Street but I suppose in terms of filming times it's now easier for them to utilise the larger houses rather than assembling sets which are hardly used? |

Why build a separate door up to Roy's flat if they're going to continue going through the cafe even when it's closed?

They've used the never seen before we moved to Media City door a few times but it's daft using the cafe entrance when it's closed.
Am pretty sure around the back of Prima Doner, Roy's Rolls and the Community Centre also have stairs too. |

I think all the houses have the kitchens built in the outdoor set as well so you dont just see a black home behind the back door
i dont remember a viaduct shopping centre either |

They've used the Viaduct Shopping Centre advert on the bus stop outside Audrey's Salon from time to time as well-notably in between the adverts from Product Placement i.e. Gary Barlow's advert a few years ago, o2 etc.
I know No. 13 also has a kitchen built into the backlot as does No. 1-I know most of the houses are empty but does really show up how poor/dated the interior sets look. |

when Emmerdale first moved into harwood village the buildings were empty but over time places like the vets have had the sets moved into them
see no reason why the shops cant have the sets inside the backlot, although devs has no back extention on the outside set which is daft. also silly is why the taxi office is on the lot and not the salon |

Agree re: Audrey's although we've seen (through the blinds) that the Salon does have more interior decor than the former backlot property over at Quay Street. I think Emmerdale's set at Harewood was empty for a long time as planning permission was granted back the. but only if the buildings were temporary dwellings rather than permanent. |

At Media City obviously The Rovers has a partial interior whereas I'd imagine downstairs are empty again bar the kitchens. |

I guess you could walk the length of the quay street corry terrace inside as it was originally built with no internal walls and a gantry for filming out the upstairs windows. The top floor was added some years after from what i was told on the corry tours
Also on the quay street set the upstairs of the kabin / flat 12 was the security office and the upstairs of 4/6/8 was where they made all posters and signs. think it's really odd that they never showed inside an any behind the scenes programmes I think the new set is built differently, with the houses no connecting to each other |

Indeed he did; and it made me realise how tiny the interiors at Quay Street were.
I did ask on the Tour why we weren't allowed inside and was told it was to do with Health and Safety. I remember looking through Gail's letter box; after the hall way was stairs up to the "bedrooms". |

It's great they have enough room to replicate interiors on the exterior sets, even if they're not used that often, helps it feel less disconnected

on the new set the halls are there but also the kitchen have been recreated too not sure if the stairs are fake in the new terrace but we saw up norris stairs and the websters landing so they may be built in to each house |

When Anna fell down the stairs that, to me, looked like an interior set in one of the sound stages compared to being on the new back lot.
I *think* the stairs in each property lead to the top floor but do they have a partition wall between each house now? |

I *think* the stairs in each property lead to the top floor but do they have a partition wall between each house now? there was an aerial view of the set being built and you could see the dividing walls between the houses the quay street terrace was originally built as one long empty building with no hallways or top floor. watch the rovers fire episode and you can see a fake wall straight behind the front door on ivy's house (number 5) so the halls were added after 1986 and i guess the top floor too. |

Had to laugh at the first instalment of Monday's double episodes... the "entrance" to the prison Maria's in is the security gate at Media City! Didn't do a good job of masking it (nor the satellite in the background)! |

Yes, they must have, given we saw Hope & Ruby's bedroom during the Christmas 2015 episode.
