I wonder if the boys have been told of the death of gary speed, as he played for newcastle and they probably knows gary very well.

Also last Night pat sharpe during one of his interview, mentioned something about hanging himself, it may have been as a joke, i believe it was, but shouldnt the producers have maybe said not mention it like that

Wasn't the interview pre-corded before the news about Gary Speed broke??

Even so the producers could easily have edited that bit out

I'm sure Ant & Dec are free to hear news.
What a strange notion that they aren't..

They knew as they mentioned it on their tweeter. They said how upset and shocked they were.

So because Ant and Dec are Gordies and Gary Speed once played for Newxastle Utd, you assume they knew him very well? Strange logic.

I imagine both are very saddened

I'm still puzzled by this thread.

Why Strange?

Ant and Dec spent a lot of time at St James park so im guessing they would have been well known to all the players, so was basically asking if you guys thought they would have told.

With Pat sharpe, i just felt that on such a sad day, when a famous footballer had apprently hung himself, should the producers have stopped him from saying it, or they could have cut it out.

Still puzzled.

Pat's interview was well after the trial.
Do you mean Ant & Dec should have told Pat?
Why?

Methinks your problem is with the edit rather than Ant&Dec.

Btw...........its a tragedy.

how can the producers stop someone from saying it before he says it? they are not mind readers. it would probably never even occur to them that he would say it. are you saying they should have approached him first and told him not to say anything about hanging?

Right i have nothing against Ant and Dec, i am 36 and have grown up with the lads, and have followed there career from Byker Grove to SMTV to Im a Celeb, they are celebs though didnt have it put on a plate for them like todays so called celebs.

I thought the Pat Sharpe interview may have been shown as live i.e. recorded on Saturday after the trial. If that was the case it couldnt have been helped. But maybe it could have edited.

So im saying nothing against the boys, but was alarmed theyas in producers allowed the thing about hanging mentioned, even if it was fun.

But Ant & Dec aren't cut off from the outside world? They are free to hear news..

They did hear the news, anyway, as they commented about it on Twitter..

He wasn't referring to someone hanging them self though. It's just an expression. This sort of PC attitude really gets my goat.

P.S. Apologies, if any of you have lost an actual goat recently. That last comment, again, was simply an expression.

They received plenty of tweets when the news broke, they were pretty shaken up by it.

as much as people are fed up with others being pc..those pointing out how everyone is too pc is as equally annoying.

plus the whole day was a shock and there was confusion over why gary speed hanged himself..i was impacted by his death more then i realised..to me that was a big shock as the mj death a few yrs ago. so yes when hearing pats interview and hearing that word i was a bit taken aback..and even though it wasnt in that context, it was still effective.

Mayb thats just me as a newcastle united fan, i remember gary speed playing..he was there when i first got into picking a football team so yh his death was huge.
