I think the Christmas Special is being recorded today. I thought we should have a new thread rather than post the spoiler on the other Christmas Special thread as not all FMs will want to know the result.

It is being filmed today but I haven't seen anyone from here say they are going.

They were advertised on the BBC Site as usual, there was even a thread on here about it.

According to Twitter, Russell is dressed as a Christmas Pudding lol.

I asked someone on twitter but she said they had to take an oath! Ian has just tweeted that Debra Stephenson danced really well. I'm hoping people who were there will let us know the result.

Oh and apparently Anton had a wardrobe malfunction.

Yeah, I was trying to find out info on twitter but those that were there mostly said how much fun they had etc rather than any result...! Boo!

Well if a small YT clip is correct... Flavia and Russell were doing some sort of American Smooth type thing... so I doubt that fits in with "Merry Christmas Everyone"... although you never know....

and anyway, hasnt Shakin Stevens done that song once before on SCD Xmas show? I was wondering about "Blue Christmas"...

I didn't read this properly and at first thought you knew the result from the xmas special. I got all giddy. That'll teach me

I was at the recording yesterday. Won't post the result as we were pleaded with by the producers not to do so which is a fair request IMHO.

However I don't see any issues with saying a bit more about the show, what dances they did etc which I hope is OK to post.

Firstly it was a FANTASTIC show. we had front row seats and it was an AMAZING experience. Here's what they did:

Simon Webbe and Katya - Cha, Cha, Cha
Debra Stephenson and Ian - American Smooth
Su Pollard and Anton - Foxtrot
Barry McGuigan and Erin - Quickstep
Charlie Brooks and Vincent - Jive

The standard of the celebrity dancers was much higher than we expected. Considering the limited training time they were good and VERY, VERY good in some cases.

The professionals opened the show and revealed their celebs in Christmas fashion, similar to last year. All the remaining celebs (including Anita) were in the audience and danced at the end with the professionals. The judges also got up and joined in the fun at the end!

Russell and Flavia did a few cameos throughout the show which were hilarious and I'm sure will go down well.

Miss World from Venezuela was on the front row and was introduced by Brucie before recording started, along with his wife. Both stunning! (The girls that is!). John Culshaw, plus Duncan and Anthony from Blue, Brendan and Nancy were also in the audience.

The only disappointment was the guest artist (despite rumours of Michael Buble!!) being Shakin' Stevens. For such a high profile Christmas Day show, Beeb could and should have done better.

Anyhow a good time was had by all and I'm sure it will be a hit on Christmas Day.
