Yes, comparing a professional, seasoned pro in the singing industry to contestants at the start of their careers in a singing competition is a good comparison to make!

oh right so you are telling me that x factor was the first time misha had ever performed in her life, she obviously has experience. anyway, no amount of vocal training/ experience can gap the bridge between their vocal ranges. its just a fact lol

well despite the `backlash` on this forum and nearly every guest performance has been ripped to shreds here. her single climbs into the top 10 on itunes. to be honest, i cant believe it myself. it`s the fifth single off a double platinum album and i thought it would make the top 20 at a push.

clearly not everyone agrees that the performance was that bad. although, in fairness misha really did perform the song really well also.

Misha sung it better. Jesse sounded as though she was straining. Methinks she should stick to song writing.

Not my favoured type of music at all, but having heard more about Jessie J and her songwriting talents do have a lot of respect for her. And I think she has an extremely good voice - but... I agree the tuning on that performance was pretty terrible. Don't get me wrong it's a bitch of a song to sing by the sounds of things - but still! It's strange though because I've seen her perform live before and I think this was a particularly off performance.

Just watched Misha's performance back and she definitely hit the high notes more reliably - although I do prefer Jessie J's tone in general. I think she has a more interesing voice. Not saying Misha isn't talented - she's just not for me.

One thing I have noticed is that they never used to give the contestants in ear monitors, but I have noticed them start to appear in the past couple of weeks. It's too dark to see whether Misha has them for her performance and Jessie J's hair is covering her ears. But I think it makes a huge difference and I feel really sorry for the contestsants who have had to struggle without them. I've heard from people who have been to the studio say that the sound in there is awful. Really tough to expect people to sing in tune if they can't hear themselves properly!

I thought that Jessie J was absolutely dreadful on Sunday Night.

Oh dear.

Hun, vocal range does not determine a good singer.

Billie Holiday had an extremely limited span of range, although that didn't hinder her success, her delivery and emotion more than compensated. A great singer; who influenced a variety of artists to appear after her.

Compared to Georgia Brown: "She was listed in the 2005 Guinness World Records for hitting the highest vocal note and for possessing the greatest range, claimed to be exactly 8 octaves from G2-G10 using scientific pitch notation."
However, her vocal lacks warmth and emotion. Not a great singer.

She has the potential to be a great singer, but seems that she has become a puppet in the industry.

Her image doesn't help, either. She's turned into this horrible chav-like figure and the beauty of her voice turned into a scream-fest.

She's even said herself that she was thinking about quitting the industry. She's sold her soul to become famous and is now paying the price.

Shame really, as she is talented - but she needs to focus on what she wants to do herself as an artist, and not what others want.

Add me to that list - her performance was very odd on Sunday. I've seen her sing live and she is great, but Sunday was awful

I don't care if Jessie J can hit notes that only dogs can hear, she was still awful on Sunday night. That song was an overwrought, over-sung mess. And that's without even considering her tuning issues.

I don't know what's gone wrong with her. I liked her when she first came to prominence, but now she seems to think everything has to be embellished to the nth degree, and for me, that actually strips her performances of emotion rather than adding it. She makes some really weird noises at times too, like the horrible squeaky baby voice she uses. That makes me cringe every time I hear it.

So, yeah. Not someone I'd change the channel to see.

Just got to add my voice to the chorus of the unimpressed. Jessie J is usually great live, but that was ghastly.

I personally don't like her voice so her performance was never going to do it for me and it didn't.

I think she sounds quite screechy on some notes and hate her trilly bits but that's just my opinion

I second all of this. She seems to be suffering from Mariah Carey-ism. You know, letting us know just how low and high her vocal range can go on Every. Single. Song. Sometimes less is more, and that song could have been beautiful with a lot less.

I really like her, but her performance last weekend just has to be written off as 'everyone has bad days'.

i think what was most odd was that she was consistently out of tune - like almost out of tune at the same intervals all the way through the first 2/3 of the song. even when regulas is talking seriously about music he hasn't got a clue.

the BIG difference between her and misha is that misha's version is about a 3rd down from jessie j's - so it's really hard to compare who sings it better. poor, poor night for jessie j by her standard tho.

anyone who isn't a fan of that performance should watch her sing it on the NY subway station with a boombox. wonderful.

it also brings up the question, how successful will this year’s contestants be outside of the show??”

I usually like Jessie J but have to admit I was very disappointed with her performance on Sunday, I thought that vocally she was all over the place (out of tune and out of time)

She was great on Britain's Got Talent so I was a bit shocked at how bad she was on the X Factor

She done well but it would have been so much better if she didn't keep oversinging and changing the melody.

Haha! There's no comparison, Jessie J has an amazing voice, sang the song like she meant it and showed why that song is hers. Misha's performance was horrid at the time but now there's a comparison it shows how bad she really is.

OMG no. Jessie J was atrocious. She was SO out of tune and off-key for the whole performance, and at the end she just started screeching and wailing it was dreadful. I don't know how anyone can call her awful caterwauling good, it was really awful, especially as I thought Jessie was a good vocalist.

This performance was actually very very bad, and only someone tone-deaf or deluded would call that a good performance. It was horrendous.

Jessie J has a great voice but she was pretty bad on Sunday. I thought she'd even admitted that herself?

'The pressure to be perfect 24:7 is unfair on ALL artists,' Jessie continued.

'I over sang at points yes I wasn't in tune the whole song yes and I'm confident to put that out there. Its important to know your qualities but also know where things can be improved. I don't wanna be an artist put in a bubble, but I will say this...To date I've never mimed or lip synced. That I'm proud of.'

Revealing her hurt, the Price Tag singer added: 'Even people who were on MY tour went in on me on twitter. Lmao! The way I lose respect for people who you think understand.'

She is shit. I keep hearing her being mentioned alongside Winehouse and Adele, which is unfortunate for her and beyond laughable for others. She's a different type to both obviously and the grouping is due to their attending the same school. That aside, I think she's shit.

She definitely shouldn't be grouped with Winehouse. I'm not a fan but that's more to do with her anodyne and derivative songs than her voice which normally sounds very good. Not on Sunday though.
