Its pretty obvious that Gary & Kelly are no way going to come back next year. Lord Louis even hinted his departure on Xtra Factor when he was asked.
So Tulisa will probably get fired as well because she's nothing special, she was just an addition to make the panel seem young.

So they will do yet another new panel, but how will they promote it? this years panel was promoted as 'the new generation'. Next year? It won't work. People will switch off and the show will be made a laughing stock of.

Second, BGT already did a whole line up change except for Amanda in 2011, and have done it again this year.

The GBP do not like too many changes. 3 Lineup changes is a curse. Look at the Sugababes They had to make their latest single free to avoid a flop.

Massive fail on Simon's arrogant behalf. He was being way too greedy, what was the problem with the success he already had?
He wanted more, more and more and he fell.

It pisses me off too because XFactor used to be a good show.

Seeing as she's taken a very difficult category and done very well, I see no reason to fire Tulisa. She's probably the best new judge/mentor on the show so if anything, she should stay. Kelly will most likely go to the American version of the show and do better there, and I honestly think Gary will stay on the panel. I guess Louis would be offered a contract but he might yet turn it down if he doesn't want to spend another year with new judges.

But yes - it's the beginning of the end for SyCo as a whole, I think. Good riddance, I say.

itv wont comission another show IMO without cowell on the panel. IMO this lot are useless. i think cowell will get another crack at the whip in the UK but that will be it. if this isnt the end, its the beginning of the end for xfactor. ITV will bust cowells balls if he wants to run it next year

I don't think the decline will be quite as quick and dramatic as you suggest but even if it is, he's worth £200 million so I don't think he'll be crying himself to sleep somehow.

Well Kelly is quite easily replaceable, straight swap with Nicole Scherzinger which would make sense given that Scherzinger is more popular as a singer here than in the US whereas Kelly Rowland's album got to #3 in the US while it is flopping hard here.

If it meant getting Cheryl Cole back, most people wouldn't care about Tulisa leaving. Whereas Simon could always replace Gary himself. I get the feeling he is considered much more dispensable in the US than he is here - American Idol has done perfectly well without him.

So did Big Brother. Nothing lasts forever. Simon will come up with another money spinner.

Cheryl is actually still very popular outside these forums. I almost collapsed when I saw that she had over a million followers on twitter and over 4 million on facebook
The twitter account is post x factor UK too.
Personally I quite like her when she's in her sparky form. She was a bit boring in the last series but was good before that.
I don't think she'd go back though to be honest- I think she's done with XF now.

well you could say that,
but Simon is never happy with what he has. He wants more more more.

10, 11, 12 million views x factor gets. Sure enough its not as good as last year, but its massive figures. But no, he wants more. He's not happy with 2nd best. - UNAPPRECIATIVE

he was so successful with BGT & X factor here in the UK. but no he went to usa to get more success - UNAPPRECIATIVE

he got rid of lucie jones over jedward - UNAPPRECIATIVE OF GOOD ACTS AND JUST WANTS VIEWING FIGURES

So you can see from this that Simon doesn't appreciate. He is arrogant jerk. But he makes great telly.

Survivor has been commissioned for another few series (it's 25th and 26th if I'm not mistaken) and it's been pretty much steadily decreasing in ratings since it's pilot. The first series had 29 million and the most recent is down to around 11 million. If they're still milking that for all it's worth I can't see the X Factor doing anything as drastic as shutting down anytime soon.

It could theoretically happen and not for reasons of people becoming bored with the format. The global recession is having a disastrous effect on many businesses, and it's not inconceivable that a media empire like Cowell's could be badly hit if things continue to worsen.

You do realize that both Gary and Kelly have said they would love to come back next year, right? In fact it was only Tulisa and Louis who said they didn't know.

Say what you like about Simon, but being "unappreciative" he is not.

Changing the judging panel on Britain's Got Talent didn't make much difference this year (ratings were pretty steady vs last year) and next years line-up may well be better, IMO. If anything, the weak link is Amanda who should have been fired but can't be because she's pregnant. America's Got Talent has had plenty of changes as well. Piers is leaving now which means the entire original cast is gone. But none of the changes in the past have harmed the show.

As for X Factor UK - Louis Walsh isn't going anywhere. I'd agree that they can't have 3 new judges and I don't think that's what they'll do. But they've got "returning" options. Cheryl, Nicole and maybe even Sharon could be considered. Tulisa may or may not come back, depending how the overall panel is shaping up and who is available and whether or not Little Mix win. There's also the option (which I like) of bringing in someone unknown from the music business to take Simon's place. Or they could even go back to 3 judges. Losing Kelly and Gary isn't exactly going to damage the show! They urgently need to reduce the rate of decline next year. They'll be fighting an uphill battle because the auditions are bound to be way down as a result of the losses in the past couple of months. But if the panel is better, the acts are better and they make a few changes then I think they can turn it around in the ratings for the live shows.

X Factor US will no doubt see some changes as well. But a second season might be easier for them - the biggest issue for that show has always been the weight of expectations. By next year, that won't be an issue anymore. And they'll be hoping to see the kind of second season growth that the UK and Australian series have had.

Of the 4 shows, X Factor UK is the only one with a major issue heading into next year. Plus there are the dozens upon dozens of international adaptations of Got Talent and X Factor.

The real challenge for Cowell (or anyone like him) is not just to maintain current brands but to launch new ones. They've always got new acts coming through on the music side but not enough new TV shows being put on air. Red or Black was a start (albeit the show itself was deeply flawed) but they need to be making more new shows for UK TV, US TV and maybe even US cable.

Nicole Scherzinger coming to the X Factor would be the final straw.

You know what will really destroy Cowell? No matter how much he's worth, he will never be worth more than Fuller! Same with Barlow and Williams...

It is evident that the show is no longer the attraction that it used to be. Why is open to debate. My personal opinion is that there are several factors and people are voting with their feet. The new panel could be one, although personally I don't think it is any worse than the old one. The quality of the contestants may be another. Although I think the five remaining in the show all have something, they are the pick of what was really a fairly lacklustre line-up this year - which poses the question are we running out of new talent or is the new panel not very good at finding it? The most significant factor, in my view, is the blatant and quite shameless manipulation. I don't like being told what to think and I doubt whether I am alone in that.

Obviously something needs to be done to stop the slide. My own view is that the show must be revamped heavily to make it much more transparent and a genuine competition. The public should know before the series begins when they will abandon the sing-offs. Contestants should perform in strict rotation so that whoever survives to the final has gone both first and last by the time that they get there. I would also like to see the roles of mentor and judge separated with the latter turning up on the night to judge purely on the performances.

I really don't see the point of the manipulation. It seems to be to ensure that certain contestants progress in the contest - but to what purpose? To offer them a recording contract? Syco can do that anyway. To get them on the tour? Traditionally it is the last eight who go, but there is no reason why they couldn't pick 'their' best eight (which would probably be very similar anyway) and leave the competition cleaner. It is the progress of Misha B that puzzles me. She has been saved by the judges three times and is now in the semi-final. There is no guarantee that it won't happen again next weekend, in which case we would have a finalist who clearly has little support among the general public and, therefore, no chance of winning on the public vote. What is the point?
