There are degrees of fakery and over the years women have used many different things to enhance their beauty but have we now reached the limit?
Fake tan, fake thickly drawn on eyebrows, loads of makeup, false lashes, falsh nails, fake hair extensions, chicken fillets, padded bums.

When all that lot is peeled off the men must get a shock seeing the real woman underneath. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that the majority of men prefer women to look welll groomed but fairly natural.

Men - would you prefer to see more natural looking women?
Women - would you like fashion to get back to less fakery?

Am surprised that no one is interested in discussing this topic.
Should I deduce from this that everyone is OK with the permatanned fake look?

No they look horrible (and pretty much identical), men aren't going to say anything though because they still want to get laid.

There is a local magazine that prints pictures of people at nightclubs and it's a sea of orange.

That said, trends pass and the New Jersey look will pass as well.

But British women will still probably be the worst-dressed in Europe.

Sorry but I don't agree we are the worst dressed in Europe. Women generally look a bit classier in northern Europe France/Germany/Italy but not in some parts of southern Europe, some of them look rather flashy for my liking.

Well I'm a man so I tend to prefer flashy over Ugg boots and black leggings.

Plus they've made an effort.

Some ladies are not lucky enough to be naturally pretty, but with fake tan, fake hair, fake lashes, loads of makeup, etc, they can look stunning. Why begrudge them that? I can't really blame them for the mega-fakery. Look at Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera for prime examples:

ladies choose to make up...just want to make them more beautiful...some people maybe don't have natural beauty, makeup will make them more confident, but in other words. different people have different opinions, i think a good looking is more attractive to men, but the beauty of mind is more important...

Of course less fakery is well accepted by men. And I don't think majority women would choose to be a lot fake.

I think we'll be on our way if people bought make-up in their own skintones. fake tan is always heinous.

I would agree with this. I think everyone should be proud of the colour they were born with. Make up is fine too as long as it is not trowled on. It should be about enhancing what you have rather than trying to pretend to be something else entirely.

Men who say they prefer their women without makeup probably have no idea that the "natural" look often involves makeup too.

You're completely anti-makeup, aren't you?!

There's nothing wrong with wanting to use products to enhance what you already have, is there? Though I do think that some people over-do it.

Exactly.

But someone like Claudia Winkleman, she's an attractive woman, I just want to get hold of her and say "stop painting yourself orange".

In fact it often takes a lot longer to achieve the natural look than the brassy Kat Slater look. So much blending time

My bf prefers the natural look, when i watch Snog Marry Avoid he's always in disbelief at what some of the girls look like!

I wear foundation and powder everyday because i have quite blotchy / red skin so i feel more confident when i do, when i go out i do the full works but still not over the top.

Though when i'm at home and i don't have my make up on, and i complain to him that my skin looks bad, he just says, 'your skin looks fine bubba!'

Foundation or powder is okay, I sometimes use a bit of powder myself cos my face is a bit blotchy (don't tell anyone )

I wish I could go to work with my going-out makeup. It's far quicker!

I'm not anti-make up at all. I just don't like fake tan and really over the top makeup (unless it's for stage). Some of the girls on that Snog Marry Avoid programme defy belief.
Nearly all of them look better with a toned down look and the men seem to prefer it too. So if the men generally prefer a more natural look, you wonder what they are doing it for?

I reckon the women who follow the fake look do so because it's everywhere on telly, in magazines and on showbiz websites. Towie have captured the mood at its peak, following on from all the Jordan wannabees.

Seems all you need now to be considered attractive is fake tan, fake eyelashes, fake nails, botox, lip fillers, breast surgery, bum uplifts...

Some of the Towie lot are only 19 and have all this fake stuff!

I've even read about some people in the states having their little toe removed so their feet fit better into high heels

I predict a shift back to less fakery as in my opinion, the celebs you see all over the place today have no talent, just an army of make-up artists
