Cambridge Science G7-II Tablet.

Was browsing through Amazon looking at the tablets thinking if I could ever convince Mrs Sniffle (the iPad owning Mrs Sniffle I hasten to add ) to allow me to raid the piggy bank on one and i came across this. For the price (£169) seems quite good value. Wondered if anyone here had any experince, never heard of the brand myself and for some reason it brought back memories of school and science calculators....*shudders*.

8GB Cambridge Sciences G7-II 7inch Android 2.3 Tablet. 8GB Hard Drive

The 8Gb looks a little shabby but with SD support upto 32Gb...

The specs do look OK but articles on the web suggest that Samsung have not introduced a "S5P210 II" processor and that it may just an overclocked 1Ghz A8 processor.

Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong with overclocking if quality components are used but it does make you wonder what other aspects of the description may be not entirely truthful.

Hmmm, sounds rather like false advertising then doesnt it ?

It's also only single-core and ARM8. You could maybe underclock it so you can have more battery life. I think it is too keep costs down.

I bought one of these a couple of months back. The first one was faulty although i thought it was me as i am used to an iPhone, the customer services were amazing and they told me to return it and a new one appeared the following day. Since then, having got used to Android, I find it great. An iPad it isn't but if you want something for using like a notebook I would say go for it.

S5P210 II - I don't think there is such a thing.
Processors 2 - that will mean that Cortex A9 has 3 processors.

Yes, it also seems to me they are slightly misleading buyers.
What they seem to have done is checked their batch of tablets to find the ones that appear to safely overclock to 1.5Ghz and price upwards.

It looks OK but with the Archos 70 at £100 I know which one I would go for. It supposedly overclocks to 1300Mhz but obviously will also generate a lot more heat.
