So, just watching FP3 at Korea...

I wonder how long Webber is going to stick it out at RBR?
I mean, I can see how he'd want to stay there while it's the best car but as long as they continue to only build one and a half cars every year he's really never going to get the opportunity he thinks it'll provide.
He knows the deal at Red Bull. I think Red Bull are probably his last chance at a race winning car, even if he is never going to win the championship now, 2010 was his one good shot.

BTW, loved this stat from the BBC:
Mercedes reserve driver Sam Bird, who was BBC Radio 5 live's analyst during final practice, came up with a brilliant stat.

Talking about Michael Schumacher's bad luck this season, Bird says that after seven races, if the German had finished in the positions he was in before suffering a retirement (he had five DNFs in first seven races), he would have led the drivers' championship. Remarkable.

I know he can feel happy about saving a set of tyres but, geez, I bet he was saying "Let's not do that again, eh, fellas?"

*EDIT*
Similar stunt with Button in Q2... and he's out!

Button wasn't Mclaren taking a gamble, it was more Jenson not nailing it again.

So, I wonder who will get pole...

great lap from Webber. It will be an interesting race, if Webber stays ahead of Vettel will Red Bull use team orders?

The wrong RBR got pole!
I'm sure it'll be sorted out tomorrow though.

Hopefully there'll be no action against Hamilton for dodging Rosberg in the pit lane.

Radio message of Vettel whining that nobody told him that Massa was in front of him on his flying lap.

Because the stewards felt last times crash only warranted a drive through. I think if he has another crash on the first lap tomorrow and it's his fault then he'll probably get another ban.

How many more first lap crashes does he need? Isn't the definition of insanity 'doing the same thing each time and expecting a different outcome' ?? I am not convinced he will ever calm down and learn what Jackie Stewart used to say, "You can't win the race at the first corner, but you can lose it.' This is what annoys me about the stewards - they are so inconsistent with their rulings

Actually it was a stop and go, which is the maximum penalty other than a ban

Maybe than can put him in the naughty corner and send him to bed without his dinner He's clearly not learning from his mistakes and somebody needs to tell him [again] he's not driving a dodgem he's actually driving a half-ton mobile petrol bomb...

You would think Lotus would be more aggrieved because he has lost them a few constructors points with his crashes this year

I think this is probably his last chance now. I think the stewards wanted to give him more of a chance after his ban and so let him off last time, but I think if he does it again then he is in trouble.

Sorry yes it was. However is that just due to the Japanese pit lane and the fact that a drive through wouldn't be much of a penalty? I think I heard that about one track, not sure if it was Suzuka, or if I even did

Think the record for crashes in one season is Andrea de Cesaris with 19 in the McLaren in 1981, bet Ron Dennis' face was a picture when he got the repair bill each time. And no, sir Grosjean the figure of 19 is a statistic and not a target to aim at

I bet he was kinda happy with that in some ways.
After that it'd be difficult for the FIA to penalise him further.

I bet Grosjean lives in fear of seeing the words "Incident involving car number 8 to be investigated after the race".

But he's probably cost all their rivals just as many sadly!

I hope he's over-cautious tomorrow, he's in a dangerous place on the grid in terms of potentially causing an incident, and he'd be better off losing a few places than getting himself in trouble again and ruining the race for Massa, Hulkenberg or the Mercedes cars. Assuming Alonso gets a half-decent start he should be able to get away from any danger.

I'm surprised Eddie Jordan thinks Lotus are so keen to keep Grosjean though - does he come with enough money to offset his increasingly poor reputation?

Someone will have to go and work out the exact amount of points he has potentially crashed away. At the moment he is wasting a potential front-running car

So Kobayashi is the idiot of the day then - zero spatial awareness and ruined Button's race. And the Sauber gets to keep going

Plus Rosberg's out too.

And the Red Bulls are running away up front, with Vettel in front.

I might as well just go back to bed, much of the midfield interest and potential for excitement up front has gone!

Great start, Vettel goes through, Hamilton loses out to Alonso and Button gets clobbered by Kobayashi...

Wow that view from Perez's car shows just how stupid Kobayashi's move was. Taking out 2 cars, just as bad as much of the stuff Grosjean's done this year!

DC is absolutely right, there's a hell of a gap between the experienced drivers who have decent spatial awareness and had a great fight up front, and those who make a mess of the midfield into turn 1 every first lap.

If Vettel runs away with this it will be incredibly boring.

Then again I think him winning a 3rd straight championship would also be far too boring. I'm not a Ferrari fan, but I'd rather Alonso won his 3rd title before Vettel gets his, I still think Alonso's the better driver and he deserves it.

Not sure why it's taking quite so long to remove the damaged cars...?

(Also agree with the above)

Drive through for Kobayashi is very lenient, that doesn't harm him anymore than was already the case anyway, he'll be on an exploration mission for the rest of the race, he's not going to get points.

All quite dull up front now, Hamilton predictably having no pace and Alonso not being able to catch the Red Bulls. Wouldn't be surprised if Webber's been told not to try and catch Vettel.

When the only action is fighting for the last point you know it's a dull race...
