He was 40 seconds behind so it did help him and who knows maybe the drivers can, you know, avoid the debris by driving round it
Erm, it was on the racing line in several corners (a couple of corners were just littered) with standing water everywhere else. You couldn't just drive round it. It was dangerous. As for your point about the 40 seconds, it may have helped him catch the leading two but that was irrelevant at that point for him, he needed a problem for Vettel.

Will they investigate Vettel overtaking Kobayashi under waved yellows?
Think he let Kobayashi straight back past so I guess not

Crossing the track in an obviously busted car is safer how?... the run-off from the original corner finishes in Interlagos city itself, I know where I would have parked it
Yeah, we'll you being a f1 driver knows best, you can roll your eyes all you like.

Err..no. Not suddenly, retrospectively.

Disappointed for Fernando but a great season from him in a poor car.

Vettel, well done but until he becomes a Ferrari driver I just can't like him

Goodbye the great man Michael Schumacher,

Motor racing IS dangerous full-stop, the conditions were MUCH worse in the last 10 laps and yet the safety car didn't come out until di Resta binned it... so why didn't the safety car come out on say lap 66?

It's kind of a shame that the season has finished so strongly because the first half was a shambles.

Hopefully next year will ALL be like the last part of this season with none of the tyre-lottery we had at the start.

Stupid and unnecessarily dangerous and not the first time either... for instance Canada 2011 after he crashed with Button, Hamilton then sets off with all 4 wheels pointing in different directions, the TEAM had to get on the radio to tell him to park it [no roll eyes].

He would have had to drive it a long time with a busted car

Well, I knew it was inevitable but I'm still sat here feeling very disappointed. So proud of Alonso though. I'd say this year has been one of, if not THE, best of his career.

Congrats, of course, to Vettel!

Bring on next year.

Edit: Also forget to add that I was genuinely sad to see Hamilton retire. Not a nice way for him to end his career at McLaren. However, I'm now looking forward to seeing what he can do at Mercedes.

Yes it is dangerous, but there is dangerous and then there is very dangerous. Being unable to take the racing line through a corner due to debris and being unable to take the non-racing line due to the water and slicks meant there was no clean way through. That is very dangerous.

As to why it didn't come out due to rain, that would be because they have tires that can deal with that. The safety car occasionally comes out if the rain is too bad, but it wasn't too bad, likewise, the safety car only comes out for debris if there is a lot of it and if it is making the track too dangerous.

Conditions were VERY bad in the last 10 laps or not and all but 2 were not on full wets, yet no safety car

Regardless of what might happen (whether there is going to be any stewards enquiries or what not with the vettel incident) I think it's been 1 of the best season's for a long time and I think Sky have done a Great job in their first full season. Can't wait to March now

Well clearly the drivers (bar Di Resta ) could deal with the conditions well enough. Otherwise they would switch to wets and then if they still couldn't they would then start asking Charlie for a safety car.

From the BBC: There have been some suggestions that Sebastian Vettel may have passed Kamui Kobayashi when yellow lights were flashing. Ferrari technical director Pat Fry says it appears they were yellow and red slippery track flags and not yellows. Therefore, no penalty required.
