Well done Pat Fry and no 'well done' to the Sky commentary team for [as usual] trying to create controversy where there was none

The weather was NOT that bad. And it's not for the race stewards to decide the teams are being dangerous to themselves by not going onto full wets, not that they really were.

This is desperate stuff.

The weather was WORSE than when they brought out the original safety car, so ultimately the point remains that they should have brought it out again BEFORE Di Resta crashed if they are being consistent

I'm sure they said they're showing every race live next year.

Like it or not, Massa's improvement in results, culminated in Alonso have to drive harder to maintain any chance. At Valencia., it seemed Ferrari were at the front in performance and able to look to control things to some degree. Whether the subsequent changes associated with trying to bring Massa to the fore, were intact too detrimental and thus went too far away from suiting Alonso. Just wonder if Massa will be as close at the start of next year, or the design concentrated towards giving the no.1 all they have.

Because it's dangerous when it breaks, I think the FIA should ban carbon fibre - or insist that teams encapsulate it in such a way that it cannot shatter (maybe in the way that laminated glass works). Carbon fibre (and grp before) was brought in because it is strong and easier to form than aluminium alloy. But a downside is that it shatters instead of bending. If teams were prevented from using materials that shatter, they would all be in the same boat, and it would concentrate their minds towards using a material that is not as dangerous following comings together.

They did, but unless there is something we do not know, they will be doing the same as this year (and until 2018 when this contract runs out) and showing half live and half as highlights.

But since it looks like there is only going to be 19 races there will only be 9 live races on the BBC and 10 races shown in highlights form.

Agreed on all of that.

I was all for EJ's idea of interviewing Britta in place of Seb

I think it just said you can watch the whole championship on the BBC. Which is how they worded this year's coverage

Another tension filled finale, Alonso was brilliant but pipped to the post by Vettel who just did enough to bag a third title.

This has to be a golden era for F1, there's just so many brilliant drivers out there.

Two exciting races to end the season.

Have we now, as one German leaves, found another one to hate for taking Lewis out.

A little unfair. Yes Nico made a mistake but it was just a mistake

Was Alonso really brilliant? He went off the track a couple of time and also came in too late for the last change of tyres. There were at least 5 drivers faster than him including his own team mate. If others drivers had not run into Hamilton and Vettel and the safety car had not wiped out a 40 second lead for Button and Hulkenburg he would not even have come close.

It turns out that it didn't help him but the debris had been there for a while before the safety car came out just after Alonso complained (by complete coincidence, of course).

The BBC guys were also saying that Kobayashi might have received a "drive through" but then he passed Vettel so didn't get one, while Hulkenburg got one for making a genuine error (which by complete coincidence helped Alonso).

My favourite part of the day though, was Kimi combining his love of F1 with his love of rallying and going 'off-road' for quite some time!! Still managed to be 3rd overall and that from a 'lesser' car is a major feat especially in your first year back.

What a season.

People always say the one who wins it, deserves it.

But I really have to say Alonso was the driver of the year and deserved the championship more for me.

His Ferrari was conistantly only the 3rd/4th sometimes 5th fastest car all season pretty much. I remember in pre season there was talk of it being the worst ferrari in 20 years.

I cant help thinking that no other driver would have got that many points in that car. Whilst Lewis can match and maybe beat Fernando in pure speed, he is inferior in racecraft, management and keeping a cool head, no one on the grid has his consistancy.

Hopefully Ferrari will get their act together for next season beacuse as Fernando said today, with the fastest car the championship would be won with races to spare.

They are expected to announce who is replacing him at the Autosport International show in January.

Whether HRT will be back next is not known yet known.

___

On to the overtake of Kobayashi by Vettel, those flags were not yellows, they were orange (red and yellow) warning the drivers that the track was slippery. So the overtake was legal.
