Quite surprised by McLaren's lack of pace in the race frankly. Brilliant race - can't believe Alonso has won, and Perez as well - stunning performance.

Camera's all over Sauber, nice one!

Bittersweet. Happy for Alonso but gutted for Perez.

Edit: Though of course it's still a fantastic result for Perez!

Are the Chuckle Brothers working for Red Bull - did Vettel stop in the end or not?!

Argh, Alonso's Birdy Song gesture is back

Perez should have, and deserved to win. But as for the McLarens - quite a shocking race for them, especially for Button. Hamilton tried but long pit stops really derailed his chances.

Am I the only one who heard Sauber say "Segio, we need this position" to Perez when he got close to Alonso, the next lap he run wide! Smells a bit fishy to me!

Seems like the McLaren suffers from the same problem that Button's Brawn had; that it just can't get heat into the tyres in cold weather.

I wonder if Hamilton genuinely couldn't challenge Perez or whether he had reverted to "careful" mode and decided to look after his tyres and claim a solid 3rd place?

Can't help wondering if he p*ssed away so many points last year that he's consciously decided that he's always gonna play it safe this year?

I know it's Ferrari involved but I reckon Perez would've got him easily down the home straight if he'd not gone off. They just didn't want him to take any risks.

You might be right. They lacked pace on the inters (or certainly Button did). But how on earth McLaren lost this race, I'll never know. It just appears in general that they are not as strong in the race as they are in qualifying, and those shocking pitstops for Hamilton really put his chances of winning down to the sword.

Who is it who supplies Sauber engines again?

Sounded like they told him to back off one way or another, Sauber have a Ferrari engine, Ferrari are desperate for good news, Perez is a future Ferrari driver (for certain now).

Neither stops were down to McLaren, the first was due to traffic, avoiding a unsafe release and the 2nd the mechanics had to remove debris from his car, looked like it had molded to his brakes.

Fernando Alonso leads the World Championship by 5 points as well. And Mercedes only have 1 constructors championship point, despite their pace in qualifying.

Hamilton's pitstop was delayed because the team were slow removing tape which they put over the brake ducts to keep the brakes hot in the rain.

It's possible from Ferrari, I agree. I do genuinely think it would've been a different story had Perez not gone off though (but as I've said before on here, maybe I'm just a bit too naive )

Lovely to see Sergio's smiling face in the press conference!

Quality, he's above Vettel is the standings, this season is turning out to be a great one, when the cars get to Europe things will change again, Mercedes will be under pressure to get some points together.

The Ferrari's a dog in the dry, but in the wet it seems to result in a level playing field -and Alonso can come into his own. Good for him to get these points under the belt, whatever happens he's at least got a race victory this season. They all count, whatever the circumstances.

With the new car later in the year, these unexpected big points early on could come in very handy later on.

He was really struggling in the wet and then bungled a pass on a backmarker and wrecked his front wing and then failed to really make any kind of comeback.

Massa signed off with a whimper and the way even Smedley shook his head after the error, having just told him to get Rosberg, said it was goodnight sweetheart!

Ferrari will be bringing a massive upgrade possibly to China in the form of Perez and Alonso has been put on notice that he will have to perform at his best constantly.

Also, I would not be surprised if part of Ferrari's engine supply contract actually forbids Sauber from attempting to pass Ferrari when in a winning position and the team boss came on the radio to remind Perez in code, with Perez also thinking he'd done enough to secure Massa's seat.

Exactly

It kind of reminds me of those ferrari days where all the team blunders would plague barrichelo whereas schuey's pit stops would be flawless.
