Sebastien Buemi has picked up a reserve driver role with Red Bull and will also effectively be a reserve driver for Toro Rosso (the team that dumped him) as well.

On the BBC breaking news;
Polish driver Robert Kubica breaks his right leg in an accident near his home in Italy. Can't see him ever stepping in an F1 car again. |

Can't see Kubica returning until 2013 and it won't be back at Lotus Renault. By all accounts Massa only remains at Ferrari until such time Kubica can take over his seat.

Another bad season for Massa, and he will probably be replaced at the end of the coming season. If Di Resta has another very good season with Force India, then you can see the big teams looking to take him. Ferrari, being the only team with a spare seat going, he may well end up there. Although Webber will have to have a better season as well. Mclaren are pretty much set their driver line up for the next couple of years. So unless one of the drivers leaves, there wont be a seat there. Hopefully Kubica will make a speedy recovery, and get back into an F1 car soon. |

I dont think its as clear cut as that. Kubica still has quite a way to go before driving again. First he has to get fit, then he has to prove he has lost none of his skill. Getting fit may be the easy part for him.

A performance rate of only one win compared to Sebastien's seventeen thousand is no-where near good enough. With the car he was given last year should've been just like Mclaren in 1988, dominant car but fierce battle for the title between teammates. But no, Webber was left behind by Sebass and, with that car, that is taking underperforming to a whole new level! As soon as Red Bull decide who is their next young charger, Webber will be out of there! |

I'm sure there's plenty of wriggle-room in the contract relating to the standard of facilities, revenue, attendance, etc.
TBH, I suspect Bernie is just being a bit of a bastard. He seems to enjoy reminding circuits, teams, drivers and anybody else within earshot that they're all just part of "his" circus. |

Not sure if this will end up putting Sutil out of F1 this year, but it seems like he's in a little bit of trouble over an incident last year, off track.

i agree totally about bernie, i have never liked him my wife calls him a poisoned dwarf i have harsher words for the sleeze bag, and yes the circus has just hit the big time!, after over 25 yrs watching f1 i feel raped by the bully of sky, it is all money money money!, i can afford easily sky but refuse to pay their stupidly priced packages as when i work i see probably 2 hrs of tv per night if that and the bbc licence is enough to justify me watching tv, f1 has always been a part of british sport and to have it half sold to an american company is an insult to all us f1 fans that have paid higher prices to go to silverstone than any other country and then the ecclestone shithouse then makes us pay more? to watch from our living room? i will find a way of cheating him through the internet if it is the last thing i do and i will never pay into the f1 circus again it is absolutely discusting and that goes for the judas money grabbing martin brundle...
As for martin, why should he stay with a channel that would only have half the races? Dosnt make sense. |

Link to article in The Telegraph. Senna-Williams-Renault, now there's three things that haven't been linked since 1994, and never completed a race, lets hope (if he does go there) that he can get get some good points this year. |

So Lotus and Ferrari have had their reactive ride height systems banned before they ever got on to the track, no great surprise there really as they were clearly devised to keep the ride height stable and there is only one purpose for doing that which is to maintain the optimum aerodynamic efficiency on the front wing.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/form...e/16664827.stm Meanwhile there have been a few leaks to the press about the new Ferrari which is supposed to be ugly by all accounts but very focused on performance. From reading the piece it seems that they have copied the Red Bull pull rod rear suspension and from what I can make out the side pods appear to resemble those from last years McLaren. Apparently, Rory Byrne has been quite heavily involved in the development, this is the first time he has been involved directly with a new Ferrari since 2004 if I recall correctly (when MSC secured the WDC by winning the French GP mid-season) so his involvement must be seen as a very big deal. http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2012/0...errari-f1-car/ I see that Kimi has been testing at Valencia in the 2010 Renault that has been resprayed in 2012 livery. This is allowed as long as the chassis is 2 years old or more. He has been using Pirelli "demo rubber" whatever that is, so it sounds like nobody has been given advance release of the new 2012 tyres which are supposed to be somewhat softer than last years. By all accounts he has put in a good performance but as the only car running it doesn't really say much and the only real point of the test was to give Kimi some pre-season testing before the embargoe falls in place for the remainder of the year (barring the single three day test allowed before the European season starts). http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227...d-by-Raikkonen Shame to hear that Rubens has lost out on the Williams drive, I was really hoping that he would be back again this year. The only remaining seat is the second HRT but it doesn't seem very appealing to me, but since he has got himself a pot of personal sponsorship over the winter he might be of interest to the team. Maybe one of the top teams will dump their driver like Renault did with Heidfeld last year and he can sneak back in that way? Anyway, I hope he gets another chance, it would be good to see the old timers still going for it. In the meantime Red Bull have been conspicuously quiet. Apart from hearing that the new RB8 will remain an evolution of the RB7/RB6 (and why not?) they have been very low key indeed. I love this time of the season when all the news is starting to break about the new cars. I'm full of hope that there will be some surprises and new names and teams will become the talking points of the year. |

Ahead of their second season as Formula One’s sole supplier, Pirelli have presented the new tyres that will be used in 2012. The key characteristics of the new rubber - developed together with the teams in response to the latest aerodynamic regulations - are squarer profiles, increased grip, and softer, more competitive compounds with consistent degradation. Selected paragraphs taken from here.
The performance gap between the different compounds has changed as well, and all now perform better. During the 2011 season there was a difference of between 1.2 and 1.8 seconds per lap among the different compounds. This year, the objective is to reduce that to less than a second: between six and eight-tenths. |

So Sky have also announced GP2 and GP3 for SSF1.
Got to be better for the series as Eurosport did it no justice last year, but no good for a 'no to Sky' bod like meself.
