Hamilton without DRS faster than Alonso with DRS down Wellington.

Strategy or screw-up with gear selection for the race?

Raining at Wimbledon. Probably moving north.

Silly racing from Lewis again. He is a pit stop behind and tyres poor so he can only lose himself time racing with Alonso. Alonso again calm and smart avoids the peril.

Hamilton KERS versus Alonso no KERS would seem most likely to me.

Back to 7th doesn’t appear to have worked. If Lewis lost time messing around with Alonso then he could have been two cars ahead by saving about 1s.

Yes but Lewis hates being overtaken.

I suspect it was just what Lewis wanted to say last week but would have been slaughtered for doing so.

The extra laps on the hard tyre might mean the difference between a set of primes and a set of options at some point, or even a complete pitstop less.

Must say, though, at the moment it seems like Alonso is just plain untouchable.
Lapping half a second faster than anybody else.

Perez is great. Highlight of the race so far, that interview.

Interesting to hear him say that it's something "all the drivers have discussed".
Fairly damning for Maldonado if true.

McLaren's race pace not great this afternoon. They seem to have fallen behind Red Bull, Ferrari, possibly the Mercs and Lotus in terms of race pace.

Or not, eh?

You're assuming every other team works the same as Ferrari.

The Merc' seems to have good speed but poor long-run pace.
They always seem to fall away through the race.
Almost certainly behind Lotus and RBR, as well as Ferrari though.

I agree. In the dry, they are well off the pace in the race. They need more upgrades because they are badly lacking in the race and it looks to be another poor race for McLaren. They've been far too complacent and it's cost them throughout the season. They've ended up from being the fastest car at the start of the year to around 4th quickest.

There's only 18 laps to go. It'll probably rain after the race.

Ferrari are really on fire with Alonso. They have great pace as well.

McLaren need to be careful in the constructors'. They could well be passed by Ferrari and Lotus in the championship.

Not good the way drivers (Hamilton, Webber and Vettel) have been reminded to "look after your tyres because cars finishing on the softs might struggle" on lap 30-odd.

That means that, basically, they're gonna be holding station now to see what happens in the last few laps rather than pushing for the whole race.

*EDIT*
Hamilton now running slower than everybody ahead of him (and several people behind him too).

*EDIT2*
Not often Gary Anderson is wrong but I disagree with him about going prime - prime - option.
All too often this year we've seen the options fail to last the expected distance so finishing on hard tyres probably creates more of a "safety net" in that situation.

He'll probably be outside the points at this rate. McLaren have probably set the car up very poorly. Seems there's a very very small sweet spot with this car and very hard to set up.

It's clear McLaren have issues with race pace, at a track they expected to go well at. Seems they've underestimated the speed of their rivals.

Schumacher closing the gap on Hamilton. Hamilton's a sitting duck - this strategy will not work with 9 laps to go - his tyres are probably gone.

Looks like a straight race to the the end for Alonso/Webber on differeny tyres.

Nasty pit stop accident for Kobayashi and his pit crew.

Ironic there has been no rain in this race after the past couple of days!
