Yamaha DSP-A595 cutout
I have recently bought a new Panasonic widescreen tv and as a result, had to refit all the leads for into my Yamaha AV Amplifier.
I had some problems with the speakers and in trying to sort this out, I have switched the impedance switch into a different position whilst the power was on. Now, when playing a dvd, my amp cuts out and goes to standby when there is any slight increase in volume on the soundtrack. The manual says I should check the impedance switch is fully on. It is, and I have tried it in both positions. However, in the 4ohm position, the unit switches off immediately. In the 8ohm position, it cuts out on the increase in volume. Have I damaged the impedance switch and is this the cause of the current problem? If so, is it easily fixable? |

Do you get the same problem with all sources (TV, DVD, Tuner, etc)?
If you do, it could be a problem with the speaker connections, maybe a partial short circuit. Try disconnecting the speaker leads from the amp, and increasing the volume. If it still cuts out, try disconnecting the inputs to the amp one at a time. There are really only two possibilities: You've blown up the amp You've plugged something in wrongly/badly The second is the most likely on a modern amp. The protection circuits usually prevent damage. They shut the power off if there is a problem, which is most likely what is happening here. Cheers Steve |
