There's something disturbing about the false hope they are giving people on this show. but I suppose contestants should know what this show is all about by now.

It seems the judges/producers thought Jade was a dead cert for the lives at this stage. They wanted to present her as some sort of Adele type but something changed between then and judges homes. In the original audition Kelly was crying and they were all blown away but somewhere along the line they went off Jade.

I agree with that, and in fact I think that's why we saw so many acts drop out this year. Goldie, Frankie, a member of the Risk plus Janet who basically gave up in the end.

It seems like in the past even unpopular acts like Katie or Danyl stayed in the show because they didn't know how things would play out. But now we have a situation where the acts all wise to the inner workings of the show before they even go on it.

They are aware that if they are in the bottom they are unlikely to win and they have twitter so they can easily check what the public are saying and who is popular and who is not.

Like us, they have seen it all before, they know when they are being cast as a joke or if they have no chance at getting a record deal. So I think the appeal of being on the show isn't really there anymore unless you're a favorite to win and we will continue to see acts dropout next year.

Jade had the opportunity to gig based on that audition. She was given opportunities she would never have had if not for the XF exposure.

What's disturbing is how people think they are entitled to the world just because someone pays them a compliment.

I'm willing to bet her life has changed since! Had Gary said 'based on that performance you will have a number one by Christmas, a multi platinum selling album next year, and sell out arena tours for the rest of your life' I could see the problem. But he didn't!

Well I'm sure that unprecedented exposure did change her life.

It changed for the better nonetheless. What, should he give her a mansion or something?

Jade's audition was very good, and if she is deluded enough to think (and I don't believe she did) that his comments meant that she was guaranteed fame and fortune beyond her comprehension, then she's nuts.

Depends, she's probably going to make quite a bit of money from it - some of the former people from BOOTCAMP are getitng gigs that they're being paid thousands for every week, not bad money.

If she then invests that smartly - whether it be in her own musical career or another direction (e.g. University) - then the one audition certainly could end up changing her life direction completely.

Hardly anything new. Loads of times we see some tearful person in the early stages get through an audition which will change their lives only for them to vanish without trace at bootcamp stage Everything about the X Factor is exaggerated for effect - auditions will 'change people's lives' , for anyone over 25 'it's my final chance'! people are hyped to the skies 'you could be the most successful person ever to come out of the show!'. This forum often picks up on the hype, threads proclaiming some rather average performance is the 'best ever in the history of the X Factor'! The show exists in a reality where people immediately forget what they saw last week, always rushing to the next big thing ...

Gary may well have believed it would change her life, maybe he fully expected her to make the live shows, but the producers have the final say, and somewhere along the line something about Jade made them decide against her, or she was going to be too much of a threat to someone else.

I hope she carries on singing, a lot of people liked her, and a lot were shocked she did not get further.

True, but it doesn't mean that people don't benefit from the exposure. Even if it's on a smaller scale, they're still better off than they were before they got the audition exposure. If overzealous fantards on this site proclaim that they have seen perfection in Matt Cardle/Cher Lloyd/Misha B/Janet Devlin/Joe McElderry, then where is the harm? Hey, that's a bunch more fans latching on that they didn't have before, so it's definitely something.

They probably say that sort of thing to quite a lot of the good auditionees. It's only when the edit gives the right camera angles, some uplifting music and audience reactions that it seems more like a prophecy than an opinion.

And to be fair, it probably did change her life, just not as much as some expected.

She was this season's Gamu "!SHOCK! ELIMINATION!!!!"

I liked Jade, but she was all wrong for the show. They're looking for a pop-star, and she didn't look the part...and made no attempts to try to look the part. I could see them giving her the makeover and putting her on a diet, and would imagine that she would be quite unhappy with that because she came across as someone who was fine with how she looked.

I wish it had changed her life. I thought her voice was amazing and I wish she'd been chosen for the live shows. I enjoyed listening to her audition more than Sophie or Janet's, both of whom got through over her.

I had to think about that one! Tbh Louis and Kelly cried, made it out to be a perfect audition when they got her to sing another track anyway.. Pfft.

I'm sure that at least she has gotten an agent and quite a few gigs lined which is definitely more than she had before the audition but I guess like a lot of other viewers I took it to mean that Jade's life would change in a 'you will probably win the show and international stardom awaits', kind of way. I was genuinely shocked she wasn't in the live rounds, though I should know better by now!

Almost three months after her audition aired, I still don't understand the hubbub about Jade. She obviously can sing really well, but I don't understand what was ever so special about her. Of the eight girls who went to Miami, I'd rate her sixth at best. (Not that that's intended as an insult)

Louis Walsh is the worst for giving false hopes to contestants.

I was very surprised she didn't get through to the lives after the hype around her audition .. plus she sang well at bootcamp and the judges houses so it seemed strange not to put her through .... but I suppose the girls category was a difficult one to narrow down

She wa a pretty good singer who should have gone through rather than some of the very average ones they put through.
Difficult to tell how good she could be just from one audition song but she had some potential

That's waaaaay too much of a stretch.

The truth is that Jade got alot of opportunities from her short stint on XF, so Gary was spot on.
