Yes it should be available to Freesat users from Tuesday. I have no idea what channel number it will be.

It is in fact already on the 1N Satellite along with other versions of Channel 5 and 5* and 5USA on 10964 H 22000 5/6 - Currently they are encrypted so you cant watch them without a card.

However, next Tuesday 6th, Channel 5+1 will go FTA (Unencrypt) and pop up on Freeview.
Rumour has it that 5* and 5USA will be going FTA two days later on the 8th and so they too will pop up on Freesat.

As they will be FTA, you will also be able to get them on a Sky box without needing a card.

We are all keeping an eye one the 1N satellite over on the Freesat forum and next Tuesday is a big day for all of us. (May even happen before Tuesday!)

(Your Channel4HD now comes from the 1N Satellite as well and it's a far better signal.)

I think you're overstating that just a little Half the country rarely if ever watches channel five, never mind the spin-offs.

Cheers,
David.

It is satellite watching wise - we don't care about what channel it is.

5*, 5*+1, 5USA, 5USA+1 and some regional version of Channel 5 have now gone FTA on Astra 1N.
Only 7720 (Channel 5+1) remains encrpted at the moment.

Just a matter of when they add them to the various EPGs.

Just watched a film on 5USA.

What a low bandwidth channel

Also six minute commercial breaks

And lastly they don't run on time and have no accurate start control so program starts and ends will be missed

A long thread on the subject exist in the Freesat forum...

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1537917

An area where both the interests of FreeSat and FreeSat+ issues are the same...

Anyway, it does seem the bit rates for these channels are very low at the moment...
