Apparently Vincent and Flavia are going to be doing a show dance while the choir is singing.

Excellent... They are perhaps the only professionals who could do that song justice in dance... (their foxtrot for the Silence in the Square event last month for Remembrance Day was simply sublime and totally in keeping with the emotion of the event).

I can't wait until their song is released, I love it. I hope they perform it on Strictly because it's so beautiful, but I can't imagine what pro-dance can be done with it.

I don't necessarily agree with that - Natalie is a beautiful ballroom dancer and has a lovely partnership with Brendan and an even better one with Ian, so I don't think dances like this are something only Vincent and Flavia can do....

Having said that though, I am looking forward to it.

I think this will be brilliant and very moving.

Moira Ross was on Chris Evans' show this morning, saying she was a big fan of Gareth's.

Now Moira cant you kidnap him for a whole 12 months because

I WANT TO SEE HIM AS A CONTESTANT ON THIS SHOW

unfortunately, I guess he has a diary booked for years in advance.

I am looking forward to hearing "Wherever you are" sung by The Military Wives of Chivenor and Plymouth. It is so moving because it is sung by women whose husbands have fought in Afghanistan and left them to get on with it whilst they are doing their tour of duty. I can't imagine how hard it is for them and their children. My friend's daughter's husband is a soldier and she counts "sleeps" until she sees him again, I am so pleased the wives of the military have been brought to the foreground and are getting the recognition they so thoroughly deserve.

Hear, hear.

I'm surprised at the negative comments tbh. These women do just get on with it, day in day out and so far I've not heard any caterwauling. Sometimes there is a place for sentimentality and to be raising funds for the Royal British Legion and SSAFA is admirable. I'll buy the single because it's a simple way to support good causes.

This series gave us a little glimpse of military life and I have nothing but admiration for the families of members of our armed forces. It is uplifting to see these women getting together and doing something for themselves that helps take their minds off their waiting.

I take my hat off the Gareth for yet again pulling the rabbit out of the hat. He one of life's unusual people and I'd love to join one of his choirs.

PS I will blub away on Sunday and count my blessings.

This is her last Strictly (hurrah), she's moving to the Voice when Strictly's finished.

Me too. I live in Hampshire near two large Army camps. I know that the military wives just get on with it but it is nice to be able to show them that we appreciate what they do just as we appreciate their husbands. I will be watching with tissues at the ready and on Monday morning I will be pre-ordering the single. It's not too often I agree with Chris Evans but on this I do.

I think Chris Evans is doing a great job promoting this song.

You can already pre-order the CD on Amazon, Gareth said so this morning (I have ordered my copy) and the sales will count towards it's chart placing after the official release on 19th December.

Having just found it on YouTube (the Albert Hall performance) I must say though I love Gareth and I applaud the idea, unfortunately I really don't care for the actual song the women are singing - I think it's a real shame they didn't get something better. Quite what, I'm not exactly sure.

What's the song? I know nothing about this. Will I have heard of it?

*probably not*

The song has been written using letters to/from soldiers and some of the wives, to an original piece of music by a composer (forgotten his name) who also wrote a piece for this year's royal wedding.

Paul Melour ? I think? He's been interviewed as well. He is obviously a top bloke, as some critic has said he is the best composer to come out of Wales for a very long time.

I am very envious of the Welsh and the Irish because of their joy of singing, ans how it permeates their culture.

Fantastic news. Loved the series...love Gareth, love the song. Finally a worthy Christmas Number 1 is on the offing. Something new and original.

They were great on The One Show to. Chris is doing a brill job.

Ordered my copy this evening.

P.S. There is another thread on Gareth and the Military Wives on the TV Shows thread.

Meant to say, all his series are on DVD now...including his recent series.

Gareth's series are the BBC at it's best!

I don't think I have actually heard the song yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing it next weekend and also to Vincent and Flavia dancing.

It is a lovely piece...very powerful, very emotive. All the lyrics were taken from letters sent and received by the wives.

Watched the programme and loved it - a beautiful song and a reminder of what our military forces and their families are sacrificing for us.

I'm puzzled by the negative comments too. If you don't think your relatives would have done this in the same situation, then good for them - but if music is helping these women, it can only be a good thing surely? Don't sneer at them for doing what's right for them.
