Picked one up on the cheap recently. After researching it for months it was nice to finally have one and i've been blown away by how amazing it performs.

What I wondered was, it's missing it's lens cap and I am unable to get one from any of the usual shops in town. Is it possible to get some sort of adapter that will change the thread size on the lens so that I can get a different lens cap to fit on?

The NEX 5 is 49mm and the shops here have plenty of similar sizes available.

Second to that, does anyone here on DS actually have a NEX camera? I was thinking of getting the 16mm lens due to the fact it makes the whole package a better pocketable option as opposed to using it with the kit lens.

However if I were to splash out on the £150 odd adapter I could just get another lens that will fit the Adapter, this is the route I'd prefer as it opens up more options but I'm just not 100% sure what to do right now.

I work in a Jessops store and love the NEX series in a very biased manner after working with the series in-store for weeks now, to the point where I have ordered myself the NEX5N model [essentially the sports type of the same camera]. It truly is SLR quality in a compact sized body, and the sweep panorama feature [also in 3D] is just amazing.

Without plugging our store too much, we sell lens caps of our own for about £7 for each standard sized 55mm lens there is, so Jessops is worth a shot.

I too at some point will contemplate the Alpha lens adapter, but I do feel it's somewhat pricey at the moment and can wait until it drops in price somewhat. For now though I purchased it with the standard 55mm lens and also bought the 210mm lens as an additional piece. There are already around 15 lenses for the NEX series, and Tamron are in serious talks regarding entering the CSC line of cameras with their cheaper lenses soon so keep an eye out for that.

Because of staff stock/prices I'm having to wait until mid-December to get my mittens on it, so the impatience is growing haha!

I originally wanted the 5N but in the end couldn't justify the price of it. It has very slowly started coming down in price and it's definitely the camera I will upgrade to in the future or it's far off replacement!

I tried every Jessops in around town and was told in each one they had absolutely no lens caps for the NEX 5 and that they had stopped stocking them on the whole.

So you are saying that Jessops have their own line of Lens Caps that fit most 55mm Lenses? I never thought of that but if that's the case I'll head back in and ask to try that out.

Does it not matter that the actual camera thread size is 49mm though?

I really want to get a better zoom lens as I miss the 18X zoom my FZ18 gave me, plus I'd also like a Prime lens too but I'm not 100% certain which adapter to buy, any suggestions on that one?
