David Cook all the way for me. And the year Ruben won Clay Aiken should have he was by far the better singer.

I voted for Kelly Clarkson as have her albums and seen her live. Also got albums by Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler.

Kellie probably my fav contestant.

Fantasia...the only one I'd pay actual money to see.

Jordin Sparks! I love her so much, I named my beloved dog Sparky affter her!

Also love David, Kelly, Kris, Carrie and Scotty though, very talented!

Other faves include Kellie P, Siobhan and Stefano - and Lauren T/Arianna who didn't make the finals

Kelly Clarkson for me by some way. Then Carrie and Jordan. Not fussed about the others really.

The actual winners list is not that great when you think about all the great contestants that there have been over the years.

Jordin and Scotty jointly for my personal taste, though Carrie and Kelly too for talent and all-around appeal.


Agreed. Very rarely has the best contestant that year actually won. I'd even include Carrie in her year but you can't take her record-breaking success away from her.

1. Adam Lambert (he walked the vote across the rest of America, even if he was decisively trounced in one state by Kris Allen who subsequently won the overall total vote .................. Danny Gokey was also a very good singer though not my thing and Allison Iraheta was by far the best contestant of her age or less that I've ever seen on any talent show)
2. Carrie Underwood (for her obvious appeal though I thought Bo Bice was the most talented contestant that year)
3. Scotty McCreery (an exceptional voice in his genre for a young boy of his age)
4. Jordin Sparks (Melinda had a great voice though)
5. Taylor Hicks (the most underrated winner ever, though I did prefer Katharine McPhee, Elliot Yamin and Chris Daughtry that year)
6. Ruben Studdart (Clay who?)
7. David Cook (though I preferred Carly Smithson and Michael Johns that year)
8. Kelly Clarkson (the most overrated AI winner ever and I doubt she would have been as successful as she has been because if she hadn't been the first)
9. Fantasia (my least favourite actually talented winner)
10. Lee De Wyze (seriously, what happened?)

Only me and three other people picked Taylor Hicks.

I loved him too! His voice was really different and bluesy, I loved it.

I actually never saw the first season of AI, but I think Kelly Clarkson is a great artist.

Last years winner, Scott, was probably the low point for me. Just awful.

7. Lee DeWyze - I quite liked Lee. No idea why now?
8. Fantasia Barrino - really wanted Fantasia to win. Her voice now irritates me
