Newbie to this software, I'm guessing I have to use my PC with the software? I installed it last night, the install screen came up on my Foxsat but nothing has changed on the box?

I assumed all the extras would be available directly though the box, I was only interested in adding non-freesat channels into the freesat epg anyway.

Reading the notes at the start of the the thread you found the download link together with the ReadMe.txt file is a good idea.

From the start of the thread you downloaded the sofware from:
"Flash the firmware in the usual way, then open your favourite browser and enter the IP address of the HDR into the browsers address bar. Remember to use the IP address, not the hostname, as the netbios nameserver service is not available until you have installed samba.

You will then be presented with this basic web interface ....."

You can find the HDR's ip address on the HDR setup screens in diag > network.

Ok, thanks, just got rid of the internet as well, looks like it's something to look into in the future.

You do not need the internet only a lan connection to the HDR. How do you live without email?

Mine's still the size of a brick So you really still have internet access and e-mail just not via a landline. It still counts

I've connected to my box via LAN, I can download and watch stuff from my box (which I could do anyway via a USB) but I can't add any new applications, doing my nut in!

I have a dongle as well, it's poo!

I've sorted it now, edited my channels, the only problem so far is with scheduled programs on freesat when watch a non-freesat program (which are now on my freesat epg).

If you are watching a "non-freesat" channel, there must be at least 25 mins before a freesat recording starts or it won't record, if it's over 25 mins until the next recording it will start the recoring with no problems.

When watching a freesat channel, if you schedule a manual recording for a non-freesat channel, the recording will start with no problems on the non-freesat channel and freesat channel.

My next experiment is going to be regarding clashes between Non-freesat scheduled recording and freesat recordings, I'll keep you posted.

Also, I've swaped all the HD channels for the SD channels on the EPG, I read this causes problems but so far I've had no problems at all with this.

It's 15 minutes.

Actually, it seems if your watching and recording a non-freesat channel, it will never record the freesat channel, the box seems to lose the time and doesn't trigger the recording.

If your not recording a non-freesat channel it will as long as it's over 15 mins?

You did not pick a very good time for this (as new channels are expected to be added in the next few days) but please post your results - Any problems will not surface until morning as housekeeping will update the list at 03:00 - you will know if all is well at the first boot of each day.

Your first point is correct.
Yes assuming accurate record is being used (as opposed to padding).

Ok, I'll let you know, it only takes two minutes to re add the channels, what channels are we expecting? Is it the channels 5 +1 and usa bundle?

I'm not sure why Humax won't support non-freesat mode, it'd save messing about.

Is it 15 mins or 25 mins? Could of sworn it was 25 mins

Yes. I think tommorow and Wednesday. You realise that they will disappear at the next boot unless you reedit the backup file?

15 mins - it is the same as the time in advance of any recording the the HDR will wake. Padding changes to it the padding setting.

Unless you want a new hobby (rather than working Freesat PVR), there is never a good time for this!

Cheers,

What you saying? It will break my box?

No - the worst thing that can happen is the HDR demanding a freesat retune.

...and you miss recordings (as LongBallPlease has already found out)

...and you lose channels (as you'll find out next time any channel moves transponder)

You won't actually break your box. But uploading a broken channel list will break the box until you replace that broken channel list. I could make mine hang on boot-up.

You can work around all these things if you want to. Welcome to your new hobby

Cheers,
David.

O.K, I'll have to see if the problems out weigh the benefits.
