You won't actually break your box. But uploading a broken channel list will break the box until you replace that broken channel list. I could make mine hang on boot-up.

You can work around all these things if you want to. Welcome to your new hobby

Cheers,
David.”

I get the impression from other sources, that by Christmas only the first point couldl be true - which is the case if you are in non-freesat mode anyway.

Since the Channel 5 bundle has launched I can't get the channel editor to work.

There is the "Channel Editor Guide" on the Webif Home Page, bottom left corner. Providing you have Webif v2.1 & Channel Editor v0.3-4

Yes, I've followed this step by step, still get the same message, everything was fine before the channel 5 bundle launched.

At what stage are you getting this message?

When I add the update file and reboot.

Did you resequence any channels . I guess that you did - Humax 1.00.17 likes the channels in order - I think the additional channels would have caused a problem.

The backup ....backup.fcl cantains the correct freesat channels - you can use this to create another update file or fiollow the instructions in the help file..
[I would forget renumbering channels].

That would mean having the non-freesat channels as the first channels on the epg list? I'll give it a go.

I would leave them in the 5000 range. - on the HDR you can move backwards to see them.

Ok, it's done, zero editting was the key, my non-freesat channels are now on the epg before 101 but my box opens on channel 101, very happy with that.

It's strange because before the Channel 5 channels launched I could put my non-freesat channels anywhere on the epg and the HD channels anywhere.

I have a Foxsat HDR with Raydon's software installed and up to date.

I have added some RTL channels to the FreeSat list which is ok. However if I set a schedule for a recording for a time in the next few days then sometime overnight this gets deleted. The channels I am using are

5012 RTL HB NDS
5013 RTL HH SH

LongBallPlease has checked this on his setup and has no problem.

Any hints as to what is going wrong please.

Firstly the situation has changed a lot since the previous post in this thread. A new Webif channel editor is live and this behaves very differently from the mogie version.

Which version are you using? If the mogie version then this would be expected as housekeeping will replace all freesat channels (except deleted ones) in housekeeping at 03:00 and delete all scheduled programmes for channels which no longer exist as freesat channels. It is only during the next boot that the channels but not the schedule will be restored.

Suggest you update your version of the channel editor to the excellent webif version.

Thank you.

I do have the latest WebIf installed. Just checked the updates and only the Channel Editor needed updating which I have done.

Will try another schedule tonight and see what happens.

Well I tried it again last night and this morning once more they have been deleted. Perhaps I need to re-install the software. Other than that I cannot see what I am doing wrong.

Fistly did you make the changes you wanted using the the new webif channel editor page? (the windows tool is obsolete)

When you say the new webif channel editor is this using it via Windows or are you saying that it should be done directly from the Foxsat. The channels were added via the browser.

The programs were set direct in the Foxsat.

Webif changes to channels are done via your browser.
Reservations can be done by either the Foxsat or Browser.

When you saved your channels changes and the screen repainted were they still there? If not what browser are you using IE8? [IE9, Chrome and Firefox current releases were all tested - but previous IE versions are known to handle some JavaScript differently]

The channel changes were done via the browser (Firefox 9.01)

The changes remained in Webif both after rebooting and overnight.

The schedules were added directly in Foxsat. They were back to back though I think I have had individual ones deleted.

I have noticed that on the Foxsat that once they have been schedule if then click on them again a blue tick appears in the left hand column. Not sure of the significance of this. Have tried it both ways and makes no difference.

This would not be normal - could they have been deleted yesterday - I would understand that if you did not reboot after updating the channel editor as the old versions changes would have been active during housekeeping.

The blue greater than sign indicates that a channel has modifications and that an entry exists in the channel editor database.

I have the Foxsat set up with dual feeds, both with Diseqc switches and access to 28.2E and 19.2E. Installed the web channel editor and set RTL Television to a Freesat channel. Can now see RTL in the Guide when in Freesat mode, but with no EPG entries.

Last night, on the Foxsat, I set two scheduled recordings for this morning for both RTL and Radio 5 Live Sports Extra to record the F1 qualifying. Got up this morning and the RTL entry has disappeared from the schedule, though the R5SX entry is still there.

I have also found that if I switch to Non-Freesat mode, I can't actually create a scheduled recording at all. Maybe this is something to do with why the 3:00am housekeeping appears to wipe the scheduled recording?

EPG entries are not transmitted for non-freesat channels.

Housekeeping actually replaces all freesat channels that are not deleted. It then deletes all schedules for non-existant channels - The channel editor will then add the channel back.

I will ask Adrian about the schedule - normally the foxsat does not expect scheduled entries for non-freesat channels.

Hi Mark - the main aim of this release of the Channel Editor was to update changes via WebIf andf most importantly to retain any freesat channel changes.

The behaviour you describe is what we think is standard housekeeping handling - scheduling a non-freesat recording would be a popular goal (especially with Partridge, he and I will test tonight).

Don't know if I have made it clear, but these are non freesat channels added to the freesat list.

Yesterday I set 3 RTL channels to be recorded early Saturday morning but this time I did not switch the Foxsat off. This I think prevents it doing any housekeeping. Anyway the programs remained to be recorded.

There must though be a way to avoid these programs from being deleted without leaving it switched on.
