I think o2 are absolute rubbish, i have had so many problems with them in the past

i ordered a reconditioned philips 355 camera phone at www.virginmobile.co.uk for only £44. 99 with sim, philips handsfree, neck strap, charger and free next day delivery
the phone looks brand new and had not even one minor scratch or anything

you simply pop the sim card in the phone and it works! you automatically get £5 free top up that you can use straight away.
Virgin mobile is much cheaper than other networks too

when i got my o2 sim i put it in and you have to register and about 30 days later you get your £2.50 free talktime. Which on my sim never worked and when i tried to phone anyone it said i had no money! I then tried to top up a tenner...sadly that never worked either as i just happened to top up on the day that no one could top up due to the problems they were having. I was going to phone customer services but then i decided not to give them 50p a minute.
Apart from that if you manage to be problem free then look at the prices...Very Very Expensive! With virgin i asked a few questions on my phone by e-mailing them and got a helpful reply next day with o2 i e-mailed and they took about a week to reply telling me to phone them instead!

Its just a shame all my friends have o2! But i dont care now cos im sticking to virgin!

My second best operator has to be orange. they have good customer service but it too is quite expensive
Thats what i hate, more and more people are going to O2 i moved ages ago back to Virgin and am never going back to O2.

sorry to dig this up but both networks are the same! T-Mobile provides the virgin network!

by the way I voted o2...

300 free texts and 300 wap mins cant be beaten... also network coverage is yet unbeaten, methinks

yeah orange coverage seems no where near as good as o2 however ive found something strange that if orange has full bars 02 often has very little even none at all so orange has the same if not slightly better coverage just doesnt show as many bars on your phone

Virgin are not as good as you all make out...

True they are cheap, and have a good service, but where is the MMS and GPRS? They are too slow to catch up!

They've offered it for months now

Although the T-Mobile network carries Virgin Mobile that is where the similarity ends. All the customer support and service from Virgin is completely separate from T-Mobile . This is why you cannot compare the two companies in this aspect of their operation.

In fact T-Mobile also carries BT Mobile and that has the worst customer service of all.

But Virgin have a cheaper and friendlier service than T-Mobile. I wasn't meaning the coverage because thats good.

i wont be anyway. 300 texts or not. They don't care for their customers. It seems people either LOVE or HATE o2. Its like a WIN or LOSE situation with every o2 customer!

I dont know if it is or not. But virgin says they have 99% coverage and i get much better virgin reception in my school than o2.

Yeah and O2 interferes with your computer making it make weird sounds (annoying whilst on the phone at pc) but virgin doesnt make any sounds you can put your phone right up to the screen with virgin and it only makes lines on the screen if no annoying sound. Virgin are the friendliest, cheapest and best network i would say!

please stop talking balls!!!

it's either:

A - your speakers were on when using the o2 sim and not with the virgin one

B - all mobile phones operate on microwaves which interfere with most electrical equipment...

So, do your research before you post that kind of crap...

just tested it here and they both make noise and lines

Nick

In response to the GPRS and MMS, just realised that Virgin have launched the services now... and the coverage... i suppose you are right, but I still think that o2 are the better network, as of the:
A - range of phones
B - free texts etc (not on any other network)
C - you can view your credit on screen... (any others do this...? i know virgin and t-mobile do not, and orange do not... what about voda?)

My speakers werent turned down, what difference does it make if u can see your credit on screen or not u still get to know how much u have in the end, BTW voadfone does have this by dialling *#1345# but i always use 2345 on voadfone for balance as it comes up all weird like this: #9.52.2min40sec from lower rate.3 SMS from lower rate. (thats what mines says anyway)

Yeah its cos 02 work on a different frequency.
I have noticed that compared to orange 02 seem to have brilliant reception everywhere apart from some areas which have none at all.
It would be great if orange had a place on the website where you could report areas of poor coverage !!!

no seriously... Maybe it because last time it made the noises with a nokia 3310, this time i tried a philips 355 and no noise with speaker volume up
could it be to do with the fact that the Nokia give a SAR level of 0.64 as nokia 3310 gives out about 1.20

also virgin can view credit on screen but when i tried it on a My-X65 it took ages to do

o2 may have free texts but whats the point when nothing ever seems to work with them?!

i dont have a My-X65 on vodafone it was my friends so i cant try it out but i think you go into the vodaphone menu on the phone and it says topup or balance and then it would tell you on screen

I can still remember it... he had £5.46

and i've tried it again with my phone up to the speakers and i can hear the noises but on o2 they are much louder

I think that a good improvement to all mobile operators would be to have a service status page on their website so you can see if any problems are on the network or if transmitters are offline

I loved (and still do) Virgin. They had very helpful staff, a simple pricing structure, cheap calls and so on.

Having said that i have moved to O2 (yes, they suck. Free e-mail support my ***... damned 0906 numbers...) JUST to receive their free texts offer. However, should this offer expire, or should i have enough money to buy Virgin Bundles, i'll probably move right back.

I've been on all the networks and finally saw sense and went to virgin. The pricing structure is simple and cheaper than the rest and now the network has signal/coverage equal to that of the rest so it makes real sense to change. The 15p for the first 5 minutes followed by 5p per minute is the cheapest whether you use your phone alot or just occasionally. Plus i like their online account section where you can actually view the your calls (pretty much in real time) and what they cost etc.
