it was i am sasha fierce me personally but i think 4 is her most daring work she's done yet imo. she's bringing back hardcore r&b music that already from the 70's, 80's and 90's. even though it's not trending to today's music but i think beyonce did a good job and i think it should be given more credit than what the other artists today are getting with their albums.

what do u think?

4.
anyone else could have done it and it would have not sold anything week one. for her its about music and not charting positions. now of course it cant tank and sell nothing, but it'd be hard for a debuting artist to release 4 as it would stuggle to sell, but UK wise, love on top is now top 20 on itunes! bout time, countdown shouldve been number one over rihanna tbh, its musically superior. shame she's pregnant, she'd be putting on some hardcore US performances. also run the world girls had a negative reception and created a dislike for the album even though that and BTINH arent representative of the album at all.

i love them all to be honest. but musically 4 has the most progression. lyrically its mature and represents her issues as a married woman. start over and i care made me think they were heading for a divorce! lyrically beyonce's similar because she writes stuff about jay-z, crazy in love to love on top. but she's had an extensive discography. wonder what album 5 will be like...as she said she's not retiring as previously stated.

Yeah have to agree, 4 is by far her best album and im sure its got its fair amount of critical acclaim?

It may not change the music industry or whatever but for me.. this album is her most personal.. every song has depth and meaning to it. what i LOVE about Beyonce is that in a era where everyone is flocking to Red One/ Guetta etc for music.. Beyonce chooses to avoid following trends and goes with lesser famous but equally talented producers. Thats what in my opinion makes her music more sincere.

4 is just whjat an RnB album should be like.. yes RTW isnt representative of the album but you need to look past ONE song and look to the remainin songs on the album.. its mature, its sexy its like the poster above said, its music that represents the issues of a married woman.

This album may not go on to be a massive seller and give us loads of number1 hits, but Beyonce said herself its about the music.. the album.. not about the singles.. the sales. Shes doing it the way REAL artists should.

I have a feeling that now that she gets older and have greater responsibility she may just choose to be an album artist and put out music that she is proud of rather than churn out electro pop garbage and promote each single hoping for number 1s.

4 - Is my personal favourite and I think the most out there album. The music wasn't generic and wasn't like everything else at the time. So I think that is her best.

I think B'Day is second as it was also daring for its time, though the theme was clearly pop I think it is such an amazing album

And Dangerously In Love and I Am... Sasha Fierce were both but they draw third.

4 - It is a fantastic display of what R&B can have done to it. Sure RUn The World isnt necessarily the anthem i wanted BUT there are some absolute stompers here and heartfelt lyrics! With a range of old skool 1970s Funky rhythms, Some Tribal influences, some grace jones/Motown influenced sounds....a very organic and progressive album that while i was put off Beyonce for a while...it reignited my love for Ms Knowles and also what R&B is and was! What i could hear in the 90s etc.

A fantastic album that looks set to be a more fan favourite like Blackout before it. With some commercial attention and some acclaim but never truly in the spotlight as much as you want it to be.

Dangerously In Love and B Day then tie - I love and dislike some songs...but overall they are concise records. DIL is very 70s influenced in places...has some Hip Hop heavy vibes, deep funky basslines and grooves and anthems....B Day is more layered and again has retro beats and rhythms

and IASF....not much to be said...i feel it SHOULD have been her Ziggy STardust moment...her personal reflective YET conceptually strong album but ended up diving one disc to dreary ballads and the other disc with chavvy....cheaper beats you know? Bar Sweet Dreams, Radio, Hello, Smash Into You an much later....Why Dont You Love Me (which i dont have physically yet!) it contained nothing truly that i love about it as an album.

all of her albums are pretty good. Why else would she be running the pop r&b world?

As i said a great entertainer with a genuinely nice personality and a host of good singles take away the singles from her albums and you are left with very little if anything good at all the only exception to the rule is b'day but what with a re-release and bungled singles choice that somewhat diminished it primarily i would say Beyonce survives on sinlges and looking at 4 with very little singles success album sales have followed i was a huge Beyonce fan but after 3 mediocre albums conceded defeat and i still stand by the point TWOW was her best work

B'day : Despite the immature, childish lyrics and the lack of any innovation, this album is just fun, catchy and exciting without trying to be 100% cut out for pop radio (a la 'I Am Trash and Fierce').It's cohesive and I think it pretty much defines Beyonce and her ghostwriters as artists. Most of my favorite Beyonce tracks are on this album ('Deja Vu', 'Ring The Alarm', 'If', 'Beautiful Liar') and the visuals were on point too

I see that '4' is getting a lot of recognition in this thread, which is good because it's a great concept (with a poor execution, imo), but, although it's indeed rather risky for a mainstream act's standards, it still feels rather predictable and doesn't really distance itself from what you would call "typical Beyonce"...It has some very good tracks, though ('Schoolin Life', '1+1', 'Start Over', which are for me some of her best songs.), but as a whole something is missing imo.And of course, as the marketing genius that she is, she hyped '4' by saying that this album is a classic, while 'B'day' and 'Sasha Fierce' weren't...Slick

I agree with everything you said here B'day was a good album it had a loose concept and did not take itself too serious the whole two discs sasha fierce (standard) was pointless the songs were not strong enough to cross two discs even as the deluxe edition
the re-release (which is another given and annoying factor about Beyonce) worked better IMO and you hit the nail on the head with B she always has great ideas that are never executed fully or well and the albums usually turn out to be singles packaged round filler but again great marketing and an engaging personality and a penchant for great performances means she stays afloat.

I actually loathe the deluxe and the platinum edition of 'IASF' While the standard was at least decent, even though it lacked flow, coherency and vision (what was 'Ave Maria' doing on a commercial urban pop album? ), it was at least tolerable. When she released the deluxe with 5 more tracks, it was impossible to listen to it for me, it just didn't flow at all, it was tiring and the lack of cohesion was showcased even MORE And finally, when she released the "platinum" edition, it was just a joke for me.The new songs she included were Westlife leftovers at best Just dire!

I think that the fact 'IASF' was so awful led to '4' getting so much love from the fans.It just feels like a big step ahead and all I hope is that she won't return to the formula of IASF just to sell 6 million ww again

A lot of dislike for I Am Sasha Fierce!

Personally, I think it's brilliant. Her best by far. 5*.
Club smashers IMO like Why Don't You Love Me, Radio, Sweet Dreams backed up with awesome ballads and slow songs like Halo & Disappear.

Also the Sasha Fierce concept is GENIUS. So many sides to her which were all contained within the album. Four has some decent tracks but it's a bit bland in my opinion.

Totally get what youe mean neither versions were particularly good but at least with the other two you got value for money 11 songs oer two discs was a cop out and putting some of the better stuff on the deluxe was like why not just release the deluxe.

And yes 4 is bland and sounds dated in my opinion.

for me the order of my fave is:

I am Sasha Fierce (rnb meets dance rock)
4 (old school rnb led by the most inrepresentative single ever)
B Day (amazing vocaLs)
Dangerously In Love (Killer singles but lacklustre album)

I love Beyonce, and her best has to be 'I Am'. I played that album (CD2 particularly) endlessly in 2009! B'Day is a very close 2nd. Thats the album that made me a fan.

I can't stand 4. I can't describe how utterly disappointed I was with that album. It's boring and had quite possibly one of the worst lead singles I've ever heard in my life! 'Best Thing I Never Had' wasn't that good either. It's nowhere near the standards of 'Listen', 'Irreplaceable' or 'Smash Into You',

It's a shame she's unable to tour though. I saw 'I Am' back in 2009 and she was absolutely incredible. I'd definitely see her again, even if it does involve her singing crap like 'Party' and 'I Was Here'...

True, 15-16 tracks are much better than 11 tracks, even though the deluxe was a mess.

As far as '4' is concerned, I wouldn't call it dated in a bad way, because it's a throwback, so it wasn't going to sound 100% fresh anyway I think that as an album it has some moments of magic, but it's overall very sloppy, so, although I don't think it's completely bland, I can see where you're coming from '4' is not an album that I can listen to from start to finish. One of the major mistakes in execution was that they thought they could reverse the rule by starting the album with all the ballads and the slow songs and let it build up to the mid-tempos in order to end with the fastest song on the album, but unfortunately this was poorly thought...a really horrible idea.An album is not supposed to build up that slowly and then finish right at the peak of its pace.It has to grab you from the first 2 songs (if not on the very first song) so I think the awful structure pretty much destroys the album for me, without even considering the lacklustre production

I love 4 and Bday. IAMSF was quite good too.

Dangerously In Love, frankly, is one of the worst albums ever.

i think beyonce is one of the very few artists bringing back real music and i think her music is great. i think 4 is without a doubt being overlooked. because people seem to favor what's going on right now in mainstream right now. but i wish beyonce's album would get much more respect than it already has been getting.

For me I'd rank her albums

B'Day
I Am...Sasha Fierce
4
Dangeously in Love

But I'd rank all 4 within my top 100 albums ever easily.

I always thought Sasha fierce was a little manufactured, too poppy and not very beyonce
While it showcased her as a performer, something that doesn't add up on that album and it doesn't feel very Beyonce when i listen to it. Sweet Dreams, Halo, If i were a boy and Broken hearted girl are amazing songs but i don't think are songs that Beyonce would really sing.

Just caught end of time on her special and having not bought four (sasha fierce finally turned me off) i would probably bought it if that was lead then best thing you never had and then countdown three really catch songs that represented the album well but no run the world and then a load of videos and no clear single

Buy it now, better late than never . I actually love Run The World, but realising End Of Time would probably have made the album more popular. Still, I love the album and it slays.

it's a difficulty with beyonce having followed her from the writings on the all and being disappointed time and again apart from b'day i've learned either don't buy it or wait for the inevitable re-release
