Why do people buy Michael Buble's music?
It's not like his songs or voice are anything special. His latest release is a Westlife style cash cow.

Did he shit on your lawn or something? Its seems a random target as he is massively inoffensive.

This is his first Christmas album and it is selling well but thats not really what he is about. His schtick is crooning style ballads, sometimes with a big band sometimes without. There is definitely a market for it and he does it quite well. Worth bearing in mind with the Westlife comparisons, they covered his song in Home, but his covers, which tends to be his bread and butter are thought out and add something to the original. There are worse that trade off a sound entrenched in the past and pass it off as their own. But with a user name based on an Oasis song, I suspect you know this.

I have to say he went down in my estimation as a vocalist when they used autotune on his An Audience With.... show.

TBH i don't particularly like him but i suppose he is inoffensive and a nice guy that doesn't need to use meat dresses and pyrotechnics (no offense i love a bit of pop theatricality as much as the next person) to sell his music do i think he is anything special no but music like art is subjective and not all people will have the same tastes so it's a bit pointless a question to ask.

its a combination of talent, likeability and good looks. three key ingredients that has got him where he is today. itv have also played a big part in his uk success, especially the x factor.
i like a few of his songs. however, i cant say i am a big fan. although, i can see the attraction to be fair. |

Why does anyone buy any music? Because they like it! If nobody's tying you down and forcing you to listen to it non-stop, then how on earth does it affect you? It would be a very dull world if we all liked the same music.

I love these deliberately (and usually gormless) provocative thread titles, nearly all of them provide entertainment. Pass the popcorn!

Because he has a great voice. I much prefer him to the monotonous and overrated Frank Sinatra, who didn't really sing a song as much as talk it.

I think he was in the right place at the right time. Decent voice/looks/charisma, but nothing special. He's a good antidote to the rest of the drivel in the charts, and this makes him seem better than perhaps he is.

He is a great artist who has managed to bring back the old Jazz style very similar to Frank Sinatra
He has a great voice and is a fantastic entertainer. His latest project is hardly a Westlife cash cow. He has done a very good christmas album that really captures the Christmas spirit of such classic songs. |

He can be somewhat strange at times ... I wouldn't kick him out of bed though.

Some people like to buy covers in general. It's just easier to buy albums by such artists if you're not a music fan.In his album, he probably covered songs from 10-12 different artists, so a casual listener would prefer to buy his album and get all those songs instead of either buying 12 albums or try to find some random collection that includes some of them
Besides, I suppose his albums would be good Chrismtas gifts for people who like jazz music

Perhaps because some people like his music? Its not rocket science, just because you dont think he is anything special it doesnt mean everyone else thinks like that.

Because unlike many of the "stars" around today, he actually does have a gorgeous voice? I know, shocking that so many disagree with you OP, but hey ho.

Perhaps because to many people his music is reassuringly old-fashioned and also because he's not another trashy, wailing, warbling, screeching, melismatic female.

We seem to have another breakout of music snoberry . The op obviously believes liking the Beatles, T Rex, etc makes hid taste in music BETTER than someone who loves Buble. Oh dear, oh dear |

As other people have said, because they like him! It's generally how it works.
I don't understand why his popularity is causing such confusion. Although his vocal style is highly derivative, there's no denying the man can sing. He's singing standards that are popular classics and will continue to be covered for many years to come (Feeling Good, etc.). He's very charismatic and I suppose he's got a certain twinkle in his eye Also, I've heard he puts on a very entertaining and feel good live show.
