They are singing in a group together with loud backing vocals and a band, it's far easier when there are loads of people there.

Kelly was singing literally completely solo with just a few light backing vocals to fall back on. She did a great job.

Kelly sang the first part live but once she started dancing it was all lip-synching.

It was live, because when she stopped singing the backing vocals were really quiet and she sounded out of breath towards the end.

I thought the whole thing was embarrassing. It felt like the outfit and dancers were all smoke and mirrors to mask the lack of presence she has. Her voice was decent enough but her dancing made me lol. It was either that or blush with embarrassment.

I am glad you spotted that too - she got completely caught out towards the end when she sung into the mic and nothing came out - It is totally undeniable...

the song was awful too - as was the ridiculous pre performance intro video - all those awards for Destinys Child not for Kelly lol

And i say this as someone who quite likes Kelly Rowland

There are lot of solos in Musical theatre, they don't always sing in a group.

Anyone on here who thinks that load of tosh of a performance tonight by Rowland was good is either related to her or deluded! She was dreadful!!!

How many of those solos are dancing straight and singing for a good 5/6 minutes?

Kelly wasn't miming as some people are suggesting, the evidence was pretty definitive that it was live.

I guess you missed the part where it was pointed out that Beyonce show was pre-recorded and therefore mistake and editing would have been done to make it perfect.

So comparing the two is abit stupid imo as one was live and one was edited.

I've been to a Beyoncé concert and seen many performances live on TV and was at the Night in that was on tonight and trust me she sounded brilliant. None of that is down to producers 'correcting any mistake made' because it was pre-recorded. She's always been stronger than Kelly.

Anyway I thought Kelly sounded good tonight, but was disappointed. The sound in that performance was a hot messs. The bass in Down For Whatever was near enough none existent. When there were dance breakdowns there was no atmosphere. Dodgy camera angles too.

99.9% of Popstars are crap in comparison to Beyonce. Kelly was good - better live than most guests we get on XF.

I agree. I've just come on here and will probably get angry if I read comments of people unfairly slating Kelly lol. Can't help it though.

Lol...it's funny to see people claiming she was miming when she clearly wasn't. Too used to Cheryl I see...

LOL so true . Kelly is a great performer. Thing is we all know Kelly gets a lot of hate so it was expected I think.

Where? At no point was she miming. You could CLEARLY hear the volume drop to just light backing vocals when she took her mouth away from the mic.

Kelly is a great singer, and live performances like that are hard. She smashed it and doesn't need to resort to trickery and bright colours like certain ex-judges on the show.

her voice hasn't been right since that problem with her throat. still she brought a lot of energy and passion to her performance. there was a part of the second song where she was exposed towards the end. like others suggested, there was some technical issue there.

it was still a good performance though. as per every week the guest performance gets slated on here and in true x factor forum tradition. here is the weekly backlash. i don't agree with the comments about her intro vt. she was a founding member of destiny`s child. those accolades belong to her.

Er... the bit where she was miming... when she was hurling herself around ... I suppose she would call it dancing.

Kelly / Beyonce / Whoever - This sort of stuff is just sterile and overproduced.

I prefer performers with a little edge, ones who have actual musical talent and can ad lib when they feel like it. White Stripes, Chilli Peppers etc.
