As much as I hate the saying "haters gon' hate", it's so true - and they will, if someone doesn't like someone and they actually have nothing better to do than to slag them off, then that shows how sad they are. I don't get why people waste their time typing, or speaking, bad about musicians they don't like over and over again? It's just pathetic and totally pointless. (rant over ha)

in a weird way its a good sign... theyre making out that hurt is some sacred song... which is gonna lead other people to check it out... people start thinking its an amazing song, then they hear it by leona with a great vocal, at the exact right time... and the people that moaned in the first place go back to protecting the rest of their precious songs... coz it aint like leona recorded her version for them anyway! win win!

I mean also, Johnny Cash covered the song, did he get any flack for it, of course not. The song isn't sacred or anything.

well no, but Johnny Cash is pretty much a legend lol and isn't (As ariella says) associated with the X-Factor.
Trent himself actually prefers JC's cover, but I'm not a huge fan of Johnny's voice. I'm interested on how the production will sound on it now actually, purely because I don't want them to 'poppify' the song too much. It needs to have a certain grit to it - which I imagine will probably translate well live, it just depends on how 'polished' they've made the studio version sound.

And re: being sacred, it is one of 'those' songs you pretty much do not attempt to do lol. The only reason I'm happy about it is because I love her and the song so much ha. Again though, I definitely do not agree with people sitting behind a computer screen and slagging her off for it. You don't like it, don't listen to it! Simple as that.

Even if the RVP gets posted I think it's a shame, at a minimum, to uplad that and circulate it. Why ruin your first experience with a shaky video when the epic, professional performance of it is round the corner? I'm going to respect the music & wait - and hope the music is respected enough to not hear its on there at all.

Struggling to get excited about this. I'm sure she'll sound amazing but is dark and moody really what she needs right now? I just worry it will be dismissed straight away as 'been there done that'.

Sort of what I think. This is why I think Iris would be better for X Factor, it's been a popular track on the show this year, so HOPEFULLY they can take advantage of that fact, but Syco isn't one for seeing things like this.

Exactly, the lyrics are somewhat fitting for the 'X Factor Journey' I suppose. It will also have such a greater impact than Hurt, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

I'm not getting my hopes up but I'd love her to do a duet with one of the XF finalists. I could imagine her doing Better In Time with Little Mix.

I'm so excited to see the RVP performance(s?) I'll be happy if she did just Hurt or just Somebody To Love, but I'll be even more happy if she did both Somebody To Love is the perfect song for her. It's been adapted into kind of like a diva song, people always hit huge notes in it now! Plus if it wasn't Hurt, we only have to wait till Sunday hopefully to hear it anyway!
