What nonsense.

The first place I come when I go onto forums is here to see if you’re OK.

I’ve been booking the airport hotel for the flight before our cruise.

We did the Holiday Inn before Lanzarote and we won’t go back in a hurry, tiny beds and the service was so poor at out prepaid dinner that we didn’t bother waiting for the final course.

This cruise is from Manchester and the Radisson, seem to remember that being fine.

My daughter got me a California map for Mothering Sunday so you can help plan our route.

That’s what we need. Right find San Diego down the bottom here.

California is going to be a bit of an adventure with only the flights and car hire booked.

When we went to Sedona we remembered it from about 10 years ago were there was good live music at night but when we were there recently it went to sleep at 10.00p.m and everything was happening at Prescott 40 miles away. Had we not been pre-booked we would have stayed at the much cheaper Prescott and visited Sedona instead of the other way round, but it’s hard to find out these things until you are there. We used to tour that way before and it was pre-internet. Should be much easier now and I’ve always find the Tourist Information offices very helpful in America. You often get a discount if you go through them to make your bookings.

Nothing wrong with an adventure.......sometimes makes a better holidee experience. I'm sure you'll have a ball.

When we took the kids to Disneyland years ago we didn’t book than and we thought we had made a big mistake. We kept being sent from on hotel to another and found them all fully booked. Thing is we were being sent from a Super 8 to an EconoLodge to a Best Western – all very cheap and basic. Not really what we wanted, as soon as we looked at accommodation a notch up (and not that much more expensive) there wasn’t a problem and there were loads of vacancies. We got a pair of adjoining rooms in a very nice hotel – I think it was a Radisson.

We were beginning to panic a bit, but it didn’t take me that long to realize that we were only being sent to hotels with a similar nightly rate, a rate which was cheaper than we had budgeted anyway. The first “better” hotel we checked out had plenty of vacancies.

Still hopping along.

I don’t know when I will get to see him but he sent me some gorgeous flowers for Mother’s Day. That is not normal, I’m not that keen on cut flowers and my kids know that but the ones he organised are really lovely. I must try to take another photograph of them tomorrow because the alstroemeria have fully opened and are beautiful.

I forget to mention that my daughter gave me my lunch yesterday – four surimi fish sticks. I wasn’t hungry but she managed to tempt me with those.

’d affernoon thready.

Looks as if we’ve got a lunch with another friend in California. He said not to do Yosemite because it is too crowded at that time of year. This is where being flexible and not pre-booking is going to pay off.
