My god How can that brand win with its awful packaging, Name and taste over the other....

Shocked as well - nothing in a product of 'Mediterranean popcorn' is appealing in the slightest - I wouldn't even want to taste it!!

med flavours are trendy and morrison thinks its customers will think the 'LA' is exotic! lol

I can't understand it either. The flavours, name and packaging of the other were all so much better imo. Alan Sugar just said on Twitter that Morrisons are the ones that called it from the "order" they made and not to blame him.

I think he lost a good one in Harry H there. And Harry M even if he is a bit annoying.

I can easily understand why a large super market chain would be more willing to take a punt on something a bit different in larger quantities than the highly generic product the other team offered.

Flabbergasted. La Popcorn was crap and Harry H was by far the strongest candidate throughout the whole process. A shame...
Also, the French for "popcorn" is Le Popcorn...

Even though it tastes disgusting???

Really the fact they said they could alter the flavours really dos'nt sit well either..

The finished product should be the finished product....

How can James say that they will alter the flavour to suit the buyers when the product has already been made.....Not Fair...

That is like saying we will change the name and box to suit you therefore changing what you have created.

The American idea was so much better! Gutted as a Harry H fan, but Zara must win now.

As soon as Sugar announced the teams, it was a done deal I reckon. Zara, Harry H and James were the strongest candidates but if he'd have put them all together it would have been a washout, and an obvious fix. Instead, he chose Haya, who was hopeless, as the obvious sacrificial lamb, and Harry H on the other team to balance out the mediocrity of Lizzie and Harry H.

For a big chain like that, it's a punt that the concept will appeal to a certain market.

The problem with the other brand for me is that it had no unique selling point at all. The idea of american themes popcorn has been done, and in fact is already on the shelf.

I think some people are letting their personal feelings about certain candidates colour their views as to why a chain would take an interest in a concept that was flawed but offered something different....

In a nut-shell!

I still wanted the other team to win though!

The fact that James said they could alter the flavours of the product to suit the buyer still dos'nt sit well. The end product should be what they buy not something that they can change.....

I see nothing wrong with changing the product slightly. Why did one seem to have 3 flavours and the other 2 or was I missing something.
I always believe on these kind of tasks that the supermarket knows its an apprentice task and not real. They will give the order to whom of the contestants they favour the most and not to the better product. Like last time when the order came in the hundred thousands.

This is what annoys me about these kind of tasks:

It's a bit unfair (imo) that you can have one team who get orders from all 3 retailers that they pitched at, yet the other team only get 2 (completely alienated by 1) and they still win. In my opinion, a product should be able to have universal/widespread appeal and if you can't do that then it hasn't been a success.

One team managed that, the other didn't.

I'm really hoping James wins now.

We don't know it tastes disgusting - we haven't tasted it. Some people obviously didn't like it but supermarkets don't buy 100,000 units of something their tasters think is disgusting so it must be appealing to some people's taste.....but then again, so is Marmite

The flavours were
BBQ Chicken; Pancake with maple syrup
Sun dried tomato with chorizo; Feta with black olive

For me maple syrup would be too close to toffee whilst the med flavours sound very healthy and would appeal to an aspirational supermarket like Morrisons.

Not sure what was wrong with 'la' - Nick, who lives in France, surely must be aware that France has a southern coast too And wouldn't 'La' also apply to Italian?

Totally agreed. The name [which was French, not Mediterranean] was terrible and the packaging looked like a cereal bag.

They also went for two savoury flavours - should've balanced it like the other team did.

James has matured the most out of him and Zara. She's still too regal acting for my [and my folks'] tastes.

Hope he wins thus.

Perhaps they should introduce a sort of fine or penalty if a team gets zero orders from any one of the clients? They get fined for items they don't manage to buy, or for non-negotiation.

I felt as if the other team did better on branding, flavours, and the fact that they got decent orders from all three clients. It would have been nice if that had been taken into account somehow.

Good post and there's taking punts and there's ordering in large quantities which is just plain ridiculous. fifty thousand units of each - no way in the world.

James said he could alter the flavour to suit. Did the supermarket buy on this premise??

On the most basic level of all everyone seemed to be pulling faces at the taste of "La", so on that most basic level its a bit surprising that it won.
And in terms of drama losing the two H has made the final a bit tepid I guess.
Great series though, not everyone has given it a chance, but Iv found it just as compelling as the adult version.

It's because the French for popcorn is "le popcorn" so Nick wouldn't have been impressed with that. Chances are if popcorn is masculine in French, it would also be masculine in Italian, in which case they should have put "il popcorn".
