How far in advance do you set your recordings on the EPG, excluding the automatic series links?

Please help with my research by voting in the poll and/or by contributing to the thread if you have any comments regarding this subject-thanks.

Most days only a day ahead unless going to be away from home. As I am retired that must influence the way I do it. Those in full time employment would I guess pick up the following weeks extras at the weekend.

Can be anything - usually when I find out about a programme - either by a trail on TV or something I've known about and hunted for.

So can be up to as far in advance as the PVR will let me - sometime a day ot two ahead, sometimes within hours of the programme starting. Only by thinking about the question posed do I realise how much I use he remote record facility from my mobile.

Same here, it can be anything from 30 mins to a week ahead.

Its daft to record far ahead because they change the ids so much that you get lots of missed recordings, several a week.

I set tomorrows recordings over my morning cup of tea.

As per my reply in the Sky forum:Mostly one or two days in advance but sometimes a lot further ahead if I see an interesting advert. I record everything and haven't watched anything 'live' in years.

I schedule recordings once a week for the whole week ahead, and I have 40-50 recordings scheduled per week (radio and TV). I don't have any problems of this sort. Maybe it depends on your PVR.

Series links go wrong on rare occasions (mainly on C5). But I nearly always spot the failure in time, and set a one-off or fixed weekly recording instead.

It shouldnt depend on the make, maybe on the content, sport changes a lot even though the timings dont change.

The horror channel change the film times by 5-10 mins quite often and this removes the recording link.

Usually when a new series starts, when I notice it.

Sometimes less than an hour before something starts, because I press stop on the PVR, jump back to live TV, think "oh, that looks interesting", and record it from the +1 channel.

Cheers,
David.
