Bruce Springsteen - His Greatest Song
The guy is a legend. What however do you think is his greatest song? Album track or single.
Its a tough choice, but im gonna say "Streets Of Philadeplhia", simply because it can just about some up a crappy day for me. |

All depends on mood really.
Agree about "Streets of Philadelphia". I would add "Glory Days", "Hungry Heart", "Born in the USA", "Born to Run" and "My Hometown". S. |

Tough, tough choice but am gonna go for "The River" for those chilling lines
"Now my memories come back to haunt me They haunt me like a curse Is a dream a lie if it don' t come true Or is it something worse?" AND of course he wrote "because the night" patti smith - which is one of the best records ever made |

Agreed about "The River". Is it just me who thinks it sounds a bit like Elton John - Candle in The Wind when he sings the "my memories come back to haunt me" bit? Could easily be "Your footsteps will always fall you along England's greenest hills." Listen for it next time.

S. PS Please don't start a similar thread on Elton - I'll die before I have typed all of the candidates for his "greatest" song. There are just so many and I change my mind depending on which album I am listening to at any given time !! |

I'm On Fire (most under-rated song he's recorded) and The Rising, both equally as good as each other.

Born To Run. Especially the slower, acoustic version.

Bruces's a musical hero of mine, fav song? - today probably Jungleland, on another day maybe Atlantic City -
"Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold But with you forever I’ll stay" for me are great lines. I also love The Rising, it's lyrics send chills down me every time.... Can't see nothin' in front of me Can't see nothin' coming up behind I make my way through this darkness I can't feel nothing but this chain that binds me Lost track of how far I've gone How far I've gone, how high I've climbed On my back's a sixty pound stone On my shoulder a half mile of line Left the house this morning Bells ringing filled the air Wearin' the cross of my calling On wheels of fire I come rollin' down here There's spirits above and behind me Faces gone black, eyes burnin' bright May their precious blood bind me Lord, as I stand before your fiery light Non Bruce fans, guess what he's singing about.... |

ah yes, forgot about "I'm on fire" - i agree, very underated song. it just exudes such a mood of l-o-n-g-i-n-g, and the words are poetry again
"it's like someone took a knife, baby, edgy and dull put a six inch valley through the middle of my soul" i guess, we've all been there sometime! |
